We are excited to share that David Gloss will be joining WYSU as a late-night jazz host!

Dave began his radio career while a student at the University of Colorado in 1978. A year later, he began hosting “Swing Shift”, a weekly big band and mainstream jazz program at KGNU, Boulder-Denver. Reflecting his long-term love and commitment to the music, he interviewed such jazz luminaries as Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman and so many others, and featured live broadcasts of jazz on his program for forty years.

Migrating to our valley in 2018, Dave now brings his knowledge and experience to WYSU. He is thrilled to share his program “Jazz Essentials with David Gloss” with you all and hopes you will join him every Saturday night at 10:00pm after The Jazz Sofa!

WYSU is excited to share a new program with you airing Sunday mornings at 10:00am!

With “On Shifting Ground with Ray Suarez” ending its run, WYSU was faced with finding a suitable replacement program that followed our mission of lifelong learning and informational programming. After much research, we are excited to share with you PRX’s “Living on Earth” will begin airing January 12.

“Living on Earth” will be your go-to source for the latest coverage of climate change, ecology, and human health. Each week, host Steve Curwood delves into the leading issues affecting the world we inhabit in this award winning environmental news and information program distributed by PRX. Tune in every Sunday at 10:00am to hear “Living on Earth”

Congratulations to Dr. Timothy Francisco, professor of English at YSU, for being named one of the University of Alabama’s 100 most influential graduate alumni in honor of the university's centennial celebration. Dr. Francisco earned his graduate degree from Alabama in 2001 before transitioning from a career in journalism to one focused on Shakespeare and Renaissance literature. Well done!

If you listen to my classical music program on WYSU, you know that I tag it every day saying, "Be kind, be patient, be positive, and listen to 88.5." I now have a once-a-week segment during my Wednesday program that I call the KPP Break, in which I take a deeper dive into that tag by asking a guest 4 basic questions. My guest today was Dr. Alexis Smith, who is a radiologist, and a lover of family, the human body, the earth, and people of the Mahoning Valley. - Gary Sexton
