Today we took a drive to Fossil Butte and Kemmerer (Home of the first JC Penny store, and it’s still there. Had a bbq then sat by the campfire. Overall a fun day. Would do again

Today was travel day, and what a drive it was.. Was only 1.5 hours (around that), but the road was rough. Surprised we made it in one piece. We were lucky and the last KOA we were at let us leave late, since it was such a short drive and we couldn’t check in until 3pm. We got the camper ready, then ended up having an outdoor lunch, and left around 1 PM.. Got to this KOA about 2:30ish and they had our site ready, so we were able to get in and setup. We got setup, and then went and saw our friends Christy Scheese Biondo and Eddie Biondo who are working right next door. We’re pretty happy that our site has a spa, so we already tried it out, and it’s nice. We’re ready to enjoy our next two weeks, we hope.

We took the truck for a wash and fill up, and decided to go for a drive to dry it out. Ended up at the Golden Spike, was pretty cool. Plus I got to see an old steam engine (see first comment if you want a video).

First of all, thank you everyone for the warm and fuzzies, it means a lot. Today was our travel day, and it was a brutal 2.5 hours, cause we had to go through Salt Lake City. Other than idiots, the drive was okay, but brutal roads as usual. We got to the KOA, and our autoformer is having issues, so have to order some replacement parts (too cheap to pay $1k for a new one, when new parts are like $75). We’re finally able to cool down. The nice part of this KOA, is they have daily ice cream socials ($2.50 for Root beer floats and $7 for unlimited ice cream), and every day they have a free pancake breakfast (since we’re out of eggs, we’re going to check them out tomorrow). Our site is a bit narrow, you can tell, but on the other side our wheels are almost on the curb to the grassy area. Other than that, so far it seems nice. We’ll know more as we explore.

What a rough 2 weeks.. Unfortunately 2 weeks ago, our poor little Halo crossed the rainbow bridge. We’re still trying to get over it. Halo’s been our main little fuzz for 17 years. I like to believe we gave her a good life. That’s why we had a picture of Halo on our travel day, as we were going to say something, but couldn’t’ bring ourselves.

Today we left Parowan to Nephi, Utah. It was an uneventful drive, but was still sad for us, as our normal travel days have changed. We’re now here for 2 weeks. We’ll miss the nice people at Painted Hills RV Resort in Parowan. They made you feel like you were welcome there.

Took a drive today, went through Zion, Cedar Break and Brianhead.. Had some beautiful views. We were planning on doing more in Zion, but it was so packed. It was almost as bad as Yosemite.

Today was a day.. We got ready to leave, but the temps were already in the triple digits (at 11AM), and we pull in all but one slide, and it wasn’t responding. no click nuthin. I checked the fuses and still nothing. I checked the controller, and no lights, but couldn’t find the reset.. 😞 Luckily I reached out to a mobile tech (out of Henderson), who walked me through where the reset button should be.. couldn’t see it, but had to feel for it, and it’s a slight bump, not real easy to find. Luckily I was able to reset the controller, and waited for it to boot back up. Then it worked just fine. We got out just before the checkout time. Our drive to Parowan, Utah, was pretty uneventful (thank goodness), and we were able to check in a little early, and get setup. Temperatures here are sooo much nicer. Staying in the double digits. We even sat outside for a few minutes enjoying the nice evening.. Going to see if they’ll let us use our propane fire pit… Will probably setup the grill, since I found where I stashed it.

Well, today was a bit brutal (the heat). Lake Meade was pretty, but hot.. like over 100 most days we were there (like 100-110+). We survived, but have learned that at National Parks, if you need service to come to your camper, if it’s not an emergency service, then they have to be on an approved list by the park. You can’t just call a company in (even if it’s to pick up your cart/SxS). Today, we left Lake Meade to get to Mesquite (only a little under 2 hour drive). Main issue was the idiots on the roads, and one round about in Mesquite. We did find out I made a mistake and didn’t reserve at this park, but another down the road. We’re kinda glad we had this mistake, cause we feel we ended up at a nicer park (it has a pool, the one I had booked didn’t). We got here and got setup and got Halo all settled, she was happier. The nice part, it’s a little cooler here, so we’ll be able to survive for this week.. :)
