Century Group Newspapers is a locally owned, independent group of community newspapers dedicated to serving some of Southern California's most desirable markets in the Inland Empire. Its products are the primary source of local news and advertising in the communities they serve. Those communities include Yucaipa, Calimesa, Banning, Beaumont, Highland and Fontana. The East Valley area papers -- Red

lands Community News, Yucaipa / Calimesa News Mirror, and The Record Gazette (Banning, Beaumont), -- are delivered free to most homes. They also have paid subscribers and sell papers weekly in racks through local stores. Fontana Herald News is distributed primarily through a free street rack distribution system. (“Jerry”) Bean founded the chain in 1987 when he left his job as publisher of the San Bernardino Sun. He has bought and sold newspapers throughout California over the last twenty years, at one point owning ten papers ranging from the Central Valley, to the Los Angeles area, and to the Inland Empire. He now runs four community weeklies and one semimonthly paper for a retirement community in the Beaumont area (Sun Lakes Life)

Big news from Colorado! Century Group Media parent company Times Media Group has acquired 21 publications in the greater Denver metropolitan area.

We are thrilled to announce that Times Media Group has successfully acquired 21 esteemed local community publications in the greater Denver metropolitan area from the National Trust for Local News. This acquisition encompasses 19 weekly newspapers along with their associated websites, as well as two direct-mail shopper publications.

The news brands shifting to Times Media Group (TMG) include newspapers like the Arvada Press, Littleton Independent and Parker Chronicle. The publications will continue to operate under the moniker Colorado Community Media.

The majority of Colorado Community Media’s employees were offered positions with TMG, while others will stay with the Colorado Trust for Local News (COTLN), a subsidiary of the National Trust dedicated to building an equitable, resilient, and vibrant future for local news across Colorado.

“We couldn’t be more excited to serve the communities in Colorado. We know how much community news means in this state, and we understand the terrific legacy created over the years by these publications and their teams,” said TMG founder and President Steve Strickbine, who has personal roots in Colorado. “This partnership is a good fit for Times Media Group and the National Trust for Local News. I look forward to the great journalism ahead and the new ways we’ll create for our advertisers to reach their customers and clients.”

As part of the transaction, TMG will print with the Trust Press, a community printing press designed to serve publishers across Colorado who are struggling with the rising costs of producing their journalism. As another part of the transaction, TMG will provide shared services to COTLN, including page design, digital infrastructure, advertising sales, and circulation management.
