🎙️ What’s Up Yuma Radio — today’s show was a good one with Carmen Márquez and Nolan Hare.
Carmen Márquez is a Yuma native who’s built an incredible career in journalism as an anchor and reporter for NBC/Telemundo Los Angeles, covering major stories and giving a voice to migrant and Latino communities across the U.S. We followed her journey from Yuma to Mexico to Phoenix to LA and back home again, talking about what she’s learned along the way, the documentary work she’s doing now focused on Latino health, and the impact of telling stories that actually matter. She’s also the voice behind commercials for Verizon, Cricket Wireless, and more — so chances are you’ve heard her even if you didn’t know it.
Nolan Hare joined us too and brought the behind-the-scenes world of live music and event production to life. Nolan has spent over two decades as a musician, live sound engineer, and producer, founding Nolan Hare Productions and touring with Brewer’s Grade Band while helping build festivals and community events that turned his hometown in Oregon into a true live music destination. Now he’s here in Arizona helping lead operations and entertainment at Naked Dates / High Tanks Brewing in Wellton, and we talked about what it takes to build great live shows, strong venues, and a real music culture people want to be part of.
