For the first time since records started being kept here in 1878, Yuma has hit 100 consecutive days of temperatures at or above 100° (it was 109° today).

The prior record was 99, in both 2006 and 1949.

The current Excessive Heat Warning is expected to continue through at least Sunday, and as the forecasts look now, the streak may well make it to (or beyond) 110 days.

The company’s decision to wind down all of their business operations means the loss of both Yuma locations. A statement from the company said liquidation sales would begin Friday.

The interim CEO said they couldn't find a way to keep the doors open.

UPDATE: Reece Griner has been located with the assistance of Yuma Sector Border Patrol Air and Marine and the Yuma Fire Department. He is being treated as precaution.

MISSING PERSON
CASE: 2024-20079

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., 77-year-old Reece Griner was reported missing. Mr. Griner was last seen at approximately 9:45 a.m. at Gateway Park, located at 200 North Penitentiary Avenue. He is described as a White male, 5’3, 141 lbs., bald with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with white stripes and gray pants. Mr. Griner possibly suffers from dementia and is epileptic.
