UPDATE: According to the U.S. National Weather Service (Peachtree City, GA) Either a meteor or space junk crossed the skies of north Georgia just before 12:30 p.m. Some reported earthquakes and that was the result of the sonic boom from the object. The Henry County Emergency Management agency reported that a citizen had a "rock" fall through their ceiling around the time of the reports of the "earthquake".
Did any Pike County citizens see a fireball in the sky or hear the long, loud thunder-like noise around 12:51 to 12:56 p.m. today? Atlanta city officials have reported a fireball that was seen across the city and citizens have reported seeing and hearing the fireball and booming noises afterward as far away as north Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Fireballs are meteors that enter Earth's atmosphere. They usually break up as they enter the atmosphere, encountering immense friction.
