Over the weekend, our community suffered an unthinkable loss. A mother of eight was taken from us in an act of domestic violence here in our community. Our hearts ache for her children, her family, and all who loved her.
Yakima is working hard to address domestic violence but we still have a long way to go. This is a community issue, and it will take all of us to create change.
Every life lost to domestic violence is one too many. This tragedy is a reminder that prevention, education, and support are essential. At YWCA Yakima, we stand with survivors, believe them, and work every day to break the cycle of abuse.
Domestic violence thrives in silence. We must keep talking about it, teaching healthy relationships, and recognizing the warning signs before itβs too late.
