Concerns Regarding Signal Lights and Local Road Back-Ups

Following any important road construction project, there is an adjustment period. With the recent completion of Highway 169 Redefine, MnDOT will monitor the signal lights and adjust the timing over the weeks following the project. We understand this can be frustrating, especially with the excitement of new roads, but we appreciate your patience.

Additionally, city staff will evaluate local roads now that this major project is completed. Please know we hear you, understand your frustration, and are striving to make traveling through Elk River a better experience for all.

Construction 169/CR4 at Zimmerman Update.

The new 169 overpass has been finalized and they are preparing bid documents for potential contractors. There will be another public open house in spring 2025 once a contractor has been selected. The open house will have detailed information about the schedule and access routes.

Construction is expected to begin in May 2025 and extend through November 2026. Review details and final project layout at https://clients.bolton-menk.com/hwy169andcr4/

Happy Friday!

Due to recent weather, you can expect a slight delay at the opening of the Main St./Line Ave./Zane St. intersection. The Zane St. access off of Hwy 169 will remain open until the new intersection is in operation. The new intersection is expected to open either this weekend or into early next week. Once the intersection opens, the Zane St. access off Hwy 169 will permanently close.

FYI - Hwy 169 project closing some access starting 8pm on Sunday, June 23 in Elk River - Details…Local access to close at the Main St./Zane St./Line Ave./181st Ave. intersection, east of Hwy 169 in Elk River to reconstruct the intersection. Motorists to follow road signs along Twin Lakes Road between 179th St. and Line Ave. The access will reopen in mid-August.
