Jeff & I have joined in on TWO dinghy discos this year so far - in Bequia & Antigua - and it’s always a ton of fun! Great people, great music, great time!

Come join a vibrant cruising community and share a unique evening in Marigot (Gallisbay / Baie de la Potence) with live DJ music. Come in with your dinghy, some snacks, lights, and your best energy. It’s going to be a great night, and we’d love to have you with us!

DRINKIN RUM DAY!🥃
We love Martinique and St Pierre is one of our favorite anchorages. We did a 30 minute uphill walk in the sun to arrive at Depaz Rum Distillery. Coulda taken a $1 euro bus but we wanted the exercise :) We decided to do our own “rum tasting” by buying a few different small bottles (which are made of glass and we will reuse them as simple syrup dispensers on the boat!!) and found a fantastic spot at the foot of the Depaz Castle next to a fountain to taste them all (hilarious video will be on our YT!)
Since 1651, Nestled in a green oasis at the foot of the Mount Pelée, the Depaz distillery is one of the smallest production units in Martinique. The Depaz distillery is still operated today, as it always was, with an old vapour machine. At the heart of the distillery, this machine produces the vapour required to activate the mills used to grind the cane as well as to operate the distillation columns.

St Vincent 🇻🇨
📍Chateaubelair (sounds fancy right?)
We had always sailed right past St Vincent, either headed straight to Bequia going south, or Martinique heading north.
We had heard mixed reviews about safety on the island, too many boat boys, rolly anchorages and just not much going on ashore.
And while some of these claims have truth to them in our opinions, we are so glad we made a few stops along the western coast of the island this time around. This anchorage in particular is one we 100% will come back to!
Since we had officially checked out of the country in Bequia a day prior, we weren’t able to go ashore here but we learned there are waterfalls within walking distance and … uhh .. a VOLCANO HIKE extremely close by that looks amazing! Definitely adding these activities to our bucket list for next time.
And while there WERE tons of boat boys in this anchorage, they were all very nice and not pushy. We got the help of one well-known youngster named Kemroy to find a fantastic anchoring spot along the cliff side , in sand, and next to some pretty good snorkelling. The depth here goes from 15 feet to 50 in the blink of an eye but this guy has been helping cruisers in the bay since he was old enough to paddleboard. Another boy came paddling by selling fresh coconuts, with a price tag of “whatever you think is fair” and it was delicious!
We enjoyed a very relaxing evening on the boat staring at the coconut palm coated cliff as golden hour turned to sunset. Chateaubelair, we will be back!
