Political activists allegedly recruited elements for terror attacks
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent: CIBS - Almost ten years ago, police said arson was suspected in a fire that destroyed a building and an estimated $1.3 million worth of building materials at the Public Works Department in Arnos Vale.
CIBS now understand that a number of people of African descent, unidentified, were recruited and paid undisclosed sums of money in cash less than 48 hours before the January 7, 2016, terror activity in which the facility, owned by the state, was believed to have been fire-bombed.
The suspected fire-bombing caused a fire which lasted from around 2 a.m until after 7 a.m January 7, 2016.
It is understood that the subjects were recruited by a small group of political activists.
The terror activity at the Public Works compound followed alleged attempts to fire-bomb crucial assets of the St Vincent Electricity Services Limited (Vinlec) at the headquarters in Paul's Avenue, Kingstown... More in an update.
