UPDATE: PUBLIC NOTICE
RE: FALSE NOTICE OF SCHOOL CLOSURE

The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports is aware of a letter circulating on social media indicating that all public schools are closed today, Thursday, 18th September 2025, due to inclement weather.

The Ministry wishes to advise the public that this information is false. The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has not issued any advisory to close schools, and the Ministry of Education has not authorized any such communication.

The Ministry further condemns the falsification and circulation of official documents, which is both inappropriate and misleading. Such actions cause unnecessary confusion and disruption within the community.

We ask parents, students, and the general public to disregard this false notice and to be guided only by official statements issued directly from the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports and posted on the Government of the Virgin Islands’ official platforms, as well as shared via local radio stations.

All schools remain open today, Thursday, 18th September 2025, as normal.

The Ministry acknowledges that periods of unsettled weather are forecasted and urges everyone to exercise caution, stay alert to official updates, and take the necessary safety measures as you go about your daily activities.

The Ministry thanks the public for its cooperation and reminds everyone to verify the source of information before sharing.

School is not closed. All schools remain open and in session as scheduled.
