A St. Thomas man was arrested for shooting another man during a fight at Emerald Beach Hotel, the V.I Police Department reported Tuesday.

A fight broke out between two men at Emerald Beach Hotel Monday. VIPD was contacted, and the man who was shot was taken to Schneider Regional Medical Center, according to the police report.

All Public Schools Closed September 19 Due to Inclement Weather

All Virgin Islands Department of Education schools, in addition to the Virgin Islands Virtual Academy Program, will be closed on Monday, September 19, 2022, because of inclement weather.

In order to assess and prepare schools for possible reopening on Tuesday, September 20, the following essential employees are required to report to work on Monday, September 19:
• Food Service Workers
• Custodians
• Maintenance Workers
• School Administrative Teams

All state and district employees are also required to report to their workstations on Sept. 19.

School open houses scheduled for the week of September 19-23 are postponed; rescheduled dates will be announced.

The Department of Education will provide additional updates on its operations as weather conditions change. Updates will be issued via email, Facebook, and through local media outlets.
