📌 AUGUST 24-30, WEEKEND ARTICLE PRACTICAL COMMENTS Q&A.

Theme: Enjoy the Benefits of the Field Service Group Arrangement.

1-2. The value of the field service group arrangement.
✅We can really benefit from the experience of others in our group. By working together in the ministry, we can pick up new ideas and improve the way we preach and teach.

✅Our group can also give us the encouragement we need to set spiritual goals and keep working toward them. It is nice to know that others are there to support us.

✅Another blessing is the friendships we can build. Spending time together in the ministry can help us become close and, in some cases, develop friendships that last for many years.

✅The arrangement also gives us opportunities to help others spiritually. We may be able to encourage someone and continue supporting them as they make progress over the years.

✅And for many of us, the group can become like a family. We get to know one another, work together, and enjoy serving Jehovah side by side.
3. What we will discuss.

We will first consider how the group overseer and his assistant care for those in their group. Then, we will see how each of us can help make the group successful and how we can personally benefit from this loving arrangement.

4. (a) The main responsibility of the group overseer.
A group overseer is an elder assigned to help the publishers in his group make spiritual progress. He takes a personal interest in them and works to support their spiritual growth.

4. (b) How he cares for the group.
✅ He gets to know the publishers in his group and stays in contact with them so that he can give them the encouragement, emotional support, or practical help they may need.

✅ He takes the lead in the ministry and works regularly with the publishers, giving them personal encouragement and helping them improve their preaching and teaching.

✅ If he cannot be present for field service, he makes sure that the publishers are cared for by his assistant or another qualified brother.

✅ He also helps baptized brothers grow toward greater responsibility by giving them sincere commendation, Scriptural counsel, and regular training.

Additional comment (Proverbs 27:23): This verse highlights the importance of knowing the condition of those we care for. So a good group overseer takes time to know the publishers in his group and notices when someone may need encouragement or help.

5. Challenges group overseers may face. Group overseers may have several responsibilities at the same time, making it difficult to stay in regular contact with everyone in their group. When there are only a few elders and ministerial servants, the groups may also be large, making shepherding each publisher regularly more difficult. Training others can also take a lot of time and energy, and because the results may not be seen right away, it can sometimes be neglected.

6. Keeping field service groups small. Smaller groups make it easier for the group overseer to know the publishers personally and give them the spiritual care they need. If there are too few elders, a ministerial servant may temporarily be assigned to care for a group so that the group overseer can properly care for the brothers and sisters.

TREASURES WEEKLY Theme: I Will Make . . . a New Covenant

Have you ever received a promise that completely changed the way you viewed a difficult situation? When someone trustworthy makes a promise, we gain confidence because we know that person has both the ability and the desire to fulfill it. Throughout history, Jehovah has made many promises to his servants. Each one reveals his love and his desire to bless mankind. One of the most remarkable promises he made was through the prophet Jeremiah: “I will make a new covenant.”

Those words were especially meaningful because Jehovah’s people already had a covenant with him—the Law covenant given through Moses. So why was a new covenant needed? Did it mean that the Law covenant had failed? Not at all. The Law covenant had accomplished exactly what Jehovah intended. It helped the Israelites understand his standards, revealed the seriousness of sin, and prepared them for something greater that would come in the future.

When Jehovah made the Law covenant with Israel at Mount Sinai, He gave that nation a special relationship with Him. They became His treasured possession, and He arranged for the tribe of Levi to provide priests who would serve the nation. Jehovah even spoke of them becoming “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” This showed that He had a wonderful purpose in mind for them.

However, there was a serious problem that the Law covenant itself helped reveal. The Israelites were imperfect. Even though many sincerely wanted to serve Jehovah, they could not keep His perfect standards completely. Their repeated sins showed that mankind needed something more than a written law and repeated animal sacrifices. A greater provision was needed—one that could provide a permanent solution to the problem of sin.

This is why Jehovah’s promise of a new covenant was such encouraging news. It would bring benefits that the previous covenant could not provide. It would make possible lasting forgiveness and open the way for Jehovah to accomplish His purpose through the promised Seed.

The promise of the new covenant revealed something beautiful about Jehovah. He knew that humans needed more than just instructions telling them what was right and wrong. They needed help to draw closer to him and to have their sins forgiven in a permanent way. The Law covenant clearly showed Jehovah’s righteous standards, but it also showed that imperfect humans could not save themselves from sin. They needed Jehovah to provide a greater arrangement.

Through Jeremiah, Jehovah explained what would make the new covenant different. He said that He would put His law within his people and write it on their hearts. This did not mean that Jehovah would simply remove his standards or allow people to do whatever they wanted. Instead, it meant that true worshippers would be moved from within to obey Jehovah. His laws would not just be written in a record for them to read; they would become part of their thinking, their desires, and their way of life.

That teaches us an important lesson today. Jehovah has always cared about what is inside a person. He is not only interested in outward actions. A person could follow certain commands outwardly while their heart is far from Jehovah. But Jehovah desires worship that comes from love. He wants us to serve him because we appreciate who he is and because we trust that his ways are always best.

This also helps us understand why the new covenant is connected with forgiveness of sins. Jehovah did not simply ignore the sins of imperfect humans. He did not lower his standards of justice just to show mercy. Instead, he provided a perfect legal basis for forgiveness. This was possible because of the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Under the Law covenant, animal sacrifices were offered repeatedly. Those sacrifices had value because Jehovah commanded them, and they helped the Israelites understand that sin requires a sacrifice. However, those sacrifices could not completely remove sin. They pointed forward to something greater. The new covenant would be made effective, not by the blood of animals, but by the precious blood of Jesus.

4. Opening a Conversation.
Setting: Door-to-Door Ministry

Main Focus: Offer a Bible study directly, showing humility by being respectful and listening rather than acting superior.

Grace: Good morning! My name is Grace. We’re visiting neighbors on your street today with a quick offer. We’re offering free, interactive Bible discussions to anyone who wants to look into what the Bible teaches. May I ask your name?

Sophia: Hi, I'm Sophia. But honestly, I already read my Bible every day. I’ve gone to my church for over twenty years, so I feel like I know my Bible pretty well.

Grace: That’s really wonderful, Sophia! It’s always so nice to talk with someone who loves reading the Bible and cares about God.

Sophia: Thanks. So yeah, I’m probably not someone who needs a basic Bible study.

Grace: I completely understand. The way we do it is really just a two-way discussion. We use a short brochure called lff to look at different life topics together, read a few verses, and see what we can both learn from them.

Sophia: Oh, I see. So it’s not like a teacher giving a lecture?

Grace: Not at all! It’s just sitting down as neighbors, sharing thoughts, and reading what the Scriptures say. Your background and opinions are always a big part of the conversation.

Sophia: Well, that does sound a bit different than what I expected.

Grace: It really is very relaxed. If you have just two minutes, I could show you how a lesson works right now so you can see for yourself.

Sophia: Honestly, I’m actually right in the middle of cooking lunch for my family, so right now isn't good.

Theme: ABRAHAM — He Faced His Greatest Test

1. Abraham’s historical background
Archaeological findings support that Abraham was a real person. For example, clay tablets from the early second millennium B.C.E. mention cities with the same names as several of Abraham’s relatives. The ruins of Ur, where Abraham lived before leaving, have also been discovered. These details fit well with the Bible’s account.

2. How Abraham learned about Jehovah
Abraham may have learned about Jehovah from Shem, who was a faithful man and lived during much of Abraham’s lifetime. Shem had seen the Flood and many important events that followed it, and he remained loyal to Jehovah when others rebelled. So Abraham may have learned about Jehovah and pure worship directly from him.

3. What made Abraham’s worship pleasing to Jehovah
Abraham’s worship was pleasing to Jehovah because he had genuine faith and always directed his worship to Jehovah. He was also willing to give Jehovah his best. His willingness to offer Isaac showed how deeply he trusted Jehovah and how ready he was to obey, even when it was extremely difficult.

4. Abraham’s promise and the stars
Genesis 22:17 shows the Bible’s scientific accuracy because Jehovah compared Abraham’s future offspring with the countless stars and grains of sand. At the time, only a few thousand stars could be seen without a telescope, yet the Bible accurately speaks of the stars as beyond human counting. This is another indication that the Bible is inspired by God, not simply the product of human knowledge.

📌 AUGUST 24-30, 2026. PERSONAL GEMS, JEREMIAH CHAPTER 29-30,

Question: How Parents Can Follow Jehovah’s Example When Disciplining Their Children

Parents can imitate Jehovah by ensuring their discipline is always balanced, reasonable, and administered to the proper degree. This means looking beyond the mistake itself and taking into account the child’s age, maturity level, health, and what caused the behavior. By being realistic in their expectations while still upholding right standards, parents avoid overreacting and correct their children with love and understanding.

Just as Jehovah considers all circumstances before giving discipline, parents should pause and look at the bigger picture when a child misbehaves. They can ask themselves if the child is tired, unwell, or simply acting their age, rather than expecting them to act like adults. This balanced approach helps parents give fair and loving guidance without being overly harsh or overlooking wrong conduct.

Jeremiah 29:11 — Jehovah assured the exiles that his thoughts toward them were of peace and a future filled with hope, not calamity. It shows how deeply Jehovah cares about his loyal servants, even when they face hard times. It gives us great comfort to know that Jehovah always wants the very best for us and will fulfill every promise he has made for our future.

Jeremiah 29:8, 9 — Jehovah warned the exiles not to be deceived by false prophets and diviners who were telling them lies in his name. It reminds us that we must be very careful about the information we listen to today. We stay spiritually safe when we reject worldly ideas and rely strictly on the Bible and Jehovah's organization.

Jeremiah 29:14 — Jehovah promised that he would gather his people from all the nations and bring them back to their land. It shows that Jehovah never forgets his people, no matter where they are. In our preaching work today, this moves us to look for sincere people from all backgrounds, knowing Jehovah wants everyone to have the opportunity to know him.

Jeremiah 29:26–28 — The false prophet Shemaiah sent letters demanding that Jeremiah be put in stocks for preaching the truth. It shows that Jehovah's true servants have always faced opposition from those who don't want the truth preached. When people oppose us or try to stop our ministry today, it helps us remain calm, knowing Jehovah will always sustain us.

Jeremiah 29:31, 32 — Shemaiah prophesied lies and caused the people to trust in a falsehood, so Jehovah called him to account. It shows how Jehovah views those who spread spiritual lies or oppose pure worship. It reminds us of the importance of staying loyal to Jehovah’s organization and sharing only the clear, accurate truth from the Bible with others in our field ministry.

📌 AUGUST 17-23, WEEKEND ARTICLE PRACTICAL COMMENTS Q&A.

Theme: How to Keep Christian Friendships Strong

1. Finding true friends. We can find true friends among Jehovah’s people. Jehovah knows that life is hard in these last days, so he gives us a family of worshippers who are bound together by love to help us along the way.

Additional comment (Psalm 119:63): shows that the psalmist considered those who fear Jehovah to be his companions. That reminds us that friendships with fellow worshippers can help us stay close to Jehovah while we go through life’s challenges.

2. The type of friendships we want to build. We want deep and meaningful friendships with our brothers and sisters, not shallow ones. Our love for Jehovah and Jesus unites us, but building these friendships requires effort because we are all imperfect.

Additional comment John 13:35: shows that love is the key sign of true Christians. This reminds us that when we put in the effort to show genuine love to our brothers and sisters, we strengthen the bond that unites us as Jesus' followers.

3. Challenges in maintaining friendships. Maintaining friendships can be difficult when we have different personalities, interests, or opinions. Disagreements can sometimes put a strain on our friendship, and difficult circumstances, such as serious illness or emotional distress, can also put pressure on our relationships.

4. Strengthening our friendships. We can strengthen our friendships by focusing on the good qualities in our brothers and sisters and making time to be with them. Spending time together, especially face-to-face, helps us appreciate one another more and build a closer bond.

Additional comment (1 Thessalonians 2:17): Paul genuinely wanted to see his fellow Christians in person. That shows us that spending time together is more than just being around one another—it gives us opportunities to strengthen our affection for each other.

5. Preserving a friendship under strain. Humility, patience, kindness, and compassion can help us work through difficulties that put a friendship under pressure. Just as oil helps an engine run smoothly, these qualities can help us handle differences and difficult moments without damaging our friendship.

Additional comment (Colossians 3:12): This verse reminds us to show compassion, kindness, humility, and patience. When we make an effort to show these qualities, especially when a friendship is being tested, we can help keep the relationship strong.

6. When disagreements put a friendship at risk. Disagreements can become a problem when each person is convinced that his own view is right. If pride gets involved and the matter is left unsettled, resentment can grow and cause two friends to become distant, even over something relatively small.

Theme: Jehovah Disciplines His Servants With Loving Balance

Have you ever noticed that when someone truly cares about you, they will not always tell you exactly what you want to hear? A loving parent may correct a child because he sees a danger the child does not yet recognize. A close friend may kindly point out something that needs to change, even when it is uncomfortable to hear.

The correction may not feel pleasant at the moment, but later we may appreciate that it came from genuine concern. Jehovah’s discipline works in a similar way. He does not discipline his servants because he wants to hurt them. He disciplines because he wants them to remain close to him and to help them return when they have gone in the wrong direction.

The experience of the Jews in Jeremiah’s day gives us a beautiful example of this. Jehovah allowed them to experience severe consequences because they repeatedly refused to listen to him. Jerusalem would be destroyed, and many of the people would be taken into exile in Babylon. From a human viewpoint, that could have seemed like the end of their relationship with Jehovah. But it was not. Jehovah had not abandoned his purpose, nor had he forgotten those who were willing to respond to his discipline. He promised that after a period of correction, his people would return and would once again seek him with all their heart.

That promise helps us understand the theme: Jehovah disciplines his servants to the proper degree. His discipline is never cruel, excessive, or without purpose. At times it can be firm, especially when serious wrongdoing has become deeply established. But even when Jehovah allows painful consequences, he keeps in mind the possibility of repentance and restoration.

As we consider what happened to the Jews, we will see three encouraging things: Jehovah wanted them to seek him sincerely, he promised to restore those who responded, and even his severe discipline was measured and purposeful.
Seeking Jehovah With All the Heart
After Jerusalem was destroyed and the Jews were taken into Babylonian exile, Jehovah gave them a message of hope through Jeremiah.

He told them that they would not remain there forever. Eventually, he would gather them and bring them back. But there was something they needed to do. Jeremiah 29:12, 13 says: “You will call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me, for you will search for me with all your heart.”

Notice how personal those words are. Jehovah did not simply say that the nation would eventually return to Jerusalem. He wanted the people themselves to return to him. There was a difference. A person could return physically to the land and yet remain spiritually distant from Jehovah. What Jehovah wanted was a change of heart. He wanted them to seek him, to search for him, and to genuinely desire his guidance.

Before the exile, that had not been their attitude. They had repeatedly made decisions without asking, in effect, “Where is Jehovah?” They often relied on their own thinking, political alliances, or false worship instead of looking to Jehovah for direction. But after experiencing the consequences of their disobedience, they were given the opportunity to develop a different attitude. They could begin looking to Jehovah for guidance in the decisions they made, whether those decisions were major or seemingly small.

Setting: house to-house Ministry

Hannah: Hi, good morning! My name is Hannah. We are visiting our neighbors today to ask a quick, positive question: Do you think it's possible for us to enjoy life forever?

Rachel: Honestly, I'm pretty busy right now. I was just trying to get some housework done, and every time someone knocks, it’s usually someone trying to sell me something.

Hannah: Oh, I completely understand, and I’m so sorry to interrupt your morning! I know how frustrating it is when you’re in the middle of chores and your time gets taken up. I promise I won't take more than two minutes of your time.

Rachel: Okay, well, thank you for being considerate. What are you sharing today?

Hannah: We are talking with people nearby because so many deal with heavy stress, high costs, and daily worries. It makes it really tough to feel happy about the future. We’re just sharing a short thought on how we can find real peace and hope right now.

Rachel: To be honest with you, I try to stay positive, but it’s hard. My husband and I work long hours, and it feels like we barely have time to breathe, let alone enjoy life.

Hannah: Thank you for sharing that so openly, Rachel. It really is exhausting when you work so hard just to keep up with daily life. It’s completely natural to feel drained under that kind of pressure, and you are definitely not alone in feeling that way.

Rachel: Yeah, it just feels like everyone is fighting their own battle right now.

Hannah: You are so right. That’s why I love what the Bible says about what God wants for us in the future.

Hannah: As that verse shows, God doesn't want us to live under constant worry forever. He promises a peaceful future where everyone can truly enjoy life.

Theme: Abraham: Courageously Fighting for What Is Right / The First Man to Fight a God-Approved Battle

How Abraham Showed Boldness and Faith
Abraham displayed remarkable courage by not letting any personal hurt toward Lot stop him from doing what was right. Even though Lot took the richest land for himself, Abraham didn't hold a grudge. Instead, he gathered 318 trained men from his household and went after four powerful, victorious kings. He didn't focus on how vastly outnumbered he was—he trusted completely in Jehovah's backing and acted right away to save his family.

Dig Deeper
1. Ancient Findings Confirming the Account
Cuneiform tablets found in Babylonia list names like Chedorlaomer and places like Elam as real historical rulers and regions from that exact time period. This archaeology shows us how completely accurate the Bible record is.

2. Physical Proof in the Salt Sea Region
The land around the Dead Sea still has large deposits of salt, sulfur, and pitch. Even today, you can find green areas with date palms in that region, which fits the Bible's description of a rich, well-watered area before Jehovah destroyed S***m.

3. Identifying Ancient Salem
The Scriptures show that Salem was the ancient name for Jerusalem. Abraham met Melchizedek in "the King's Low Plain" right near Jerusalem, and Psalm 76:2 links "Salem" directly with "Zion". This is also where Jesus was later offered as a sacrifice.

4. How Melchizedek Foreshadowed Jesus
Melchizedek was a prophetic picture of Jesus because the Bible record gives no genealogy, beginning of days, or end of life for him, showing an unending priesthood. He also held the special appointment of being both a King and a High Priest at the same time, prefiguring Christ's dual role.

Reflect on the Lessons
5. Yielding Personal Rights to Keep the Peace
The Lesson: Abraham was the older man and had the right to pick first, but he cheerfully stepped back and let Lot choose. He valued peace and his relationship with Lot much more than having the best grazing ground.

Meeting Comment: "When we're planning a field service day, a brother might prefer driving one specific territory or taking a certain break spot. Instead of insisting on my preference, I can yield to my brother. Putting his comfort first keeps our working relationship warm and joyful."

Daily Application: "In our families, we can show this same spirit during small decisions, like what to eat or how to spend free time. Yielding our rights shows we care more about love and peace than getting our own way."

6. Helping Loved Ones in Times of Trouble
The Lesson: Abraham didn't say, "Lot brought this on himself by moving near S***m." The moment he heard his nephew was captured, he stepped up to rescue him without any delay or resentment.
