When I was in college, I had a great sociology professor who really instilled in us the value of seeking out quality news sources that used balance journalism that reported facts over opinions. He also taught us that as consumers we had a lot of power and we could vote with our wallets.

Spend money on companies and products that support the things that you are aligned with.

That’s why when I work with clients on marketing campaigns and we include advertising as part of the campaign, I always encourage them to think carefully about which publications they feel offer responsible journalism over click-bait and salacious headlines. Sometimes those publications have higher numbers. But you need to ask yourself - are they producing content that you feel comfortable supporting with your ad dollars?

Only you can make that choice - but when asked which publications I support, Virgin Islands Source is always on the list.

A few months ago my friend Suzanne, owner of , came to me needing to update and streamline a 4-page document she hands out at Scuba Dive Travel Shows across the US.

These shows have hundreds of presenters selling different destinations and thousands of attendees. It was crucial that we created a flier that made her St Croix Dive Tour Operation stand out from the crowd. We also needed to emphasize that they are way more than just Scuba Dive Tours - they also provide snorkeling tours, private charters, custom travel packages, and gear sales and rentals! 🤿🛥️🐠

And the design needed to be in a format that Suzanne could easily edit herself for future shows. 🗝️Affordable and professional.

💡No problem! I created a custom-designed and branded template for her using Canva

🌟 I used the new branding I developed for their website redesign last year, condensed the info, and used bold section headlines. This turned the 4-page printed doc into a 1-page front and back handout that is not only more economical to print but it’s vibrant and attention-grabbing.

🤩 Yesterday I attended the first in a series of “Leaders Who Lunch” networking and learning session at The Courtyard facilitated by my talented friend and colleague Angela K East, East Consulting

The session topic was “Lead with Excellence: Mastering Leadership Skills and Executive Presence”

Whether you are the “boss”, entrepreneur, a team leader, or someone with aspirations to lead a team - I highly recommend this series! It’s a great way to learn new concepts for effective leadership and collaboratively learn about what has worked (and not worked) for others.

This session also featured guest Sana Joseph Smith, local entrepreneur and policy advisor to the Governor who shared insight and her secret formula to effectively getting quick replies and feedback from busy colleagues. (I’m definitely incorporating that myself!)

🥗 Lunch by The Courtyard was healthy and delish! We enjoyed it during the session to make our time most efficient.

✨ There was a great group of professionals in attendance making it a terrific networking opportunity too.
