⚠️ Our next tribute mix will be available only on the crystal clear ViVid Streaming App 🌊 and is scheduled to start at 4p today with GWEEDO in The CARnival. You can find ViVid Streaming in your App & Play Stores ⚠️
The following is written with full knowledge folks would rather watch Rash rant and carry on for 30 minutes than read the truth for 6(VI) but here goes.

🚨Warning warning WARNING🚨 If you’re one to comment on how long posts are or the fact there aren’t enough pictures to keep you engaged 🛑 STOP READING NOW. For those NONFICTION lovers who like a good read 📖 this is up your alley. IF MY OPINION of folks attempting to thwart my efforts and kill MY vibe matters; read on. 👓

Several people have access and manage this page so for full disclosure this is Rash addressing comments and concerns raised regarding this morning’s tribute to Daddy Friday and this afternoon’s tribute SCHEDULED to CENTER around Sasso in Gweedo’s show The CARnival (4-7). Here’s where it gets G👀D.

Never would I imagine something INTENDED to be so positive could POSSIBLY be made into a negative. Johnathon Mercer thanks for the “respect” this morning. Much appreciated! Please allow me to offer the logic behind today’s SPECIAL programming for anyone who questions the motives surorunding it.

On September 11th, the day after Sasso tragically passed, we acknowledged the tragedy in New York that took place 24 years ago; we even played an old 2EKwhip (now R. City) record called Cry For America BECAUSE A Virgin Islander died in that tragedy and we took America’s heed and didn’t forget ALL the lives lost DESPITE being CRUSHED by the loss of a VI Superstar and friend.

GWEEDO came to the (St. Croix Studio), same as he did today to help The GOOD Mahnin Show (St. Thomas Studio) pay tribute to the life of a LEGEND with a mix SOLELY dedicated to Sasso. Please be reminded Gweedo has his own show on ViVid Streaming from 4-7 Monday to Friday and he paid tribute to Sasso again that afternoon in his show “The CARnival”.

So Shawn Top Shatta Samuel that guy who has been FALSELY ACCUSED of sending SASSO “to hell” TO CREATE A NEGATIVE NARRATIVE (created on Sept. 24th) around him or POSSIBLY this station came to work early to pay tribute to Sasso on September 11th (do the math literally and figuratively). If THAT guy WITH THOSE FEELINGS got out his bed early ans left his family to give an AMAZING tribute to somebody he wants to see in hell THAT GUY is a raging JACK ASS 🫏 and IF those were indeed his sentiments I couldn’t have him around me because Sasso was like a brother to me. His mother PRACTICALLY managed my bar (Win Mill 2.⭕️) and LITERALLY called me her SON, so Sasso was LIKE A BROTHER TO ME.

Mariesha N. Williams you asked a legitimate question so here’s the reason (IN PART); today’s mix isn’t solely dedicated to Sasso because not only did Gweedo do that twice on September 11th, Selector Big BEAST, SupaTrakz, and DJ Kegg ALL did individual mixes dedicated to Sasso on September 11th. So from a Radio PROGRAMMING standpoint and for the sake of our dedicated listeners we thought we would be better served executing a mix with both legends this evening since they have BOTH HAD individual tributes on our radio station within the last 23 days… In the case of Sasso he has gotten 6 (and he deserves ALL) individual tributes on ViVid Streaming since his passing as Bigg Swagg recorded and played DJ Kegg’s mix dedicated to Sasso on September 13th.

Today is October 3rd; this is important because for those who only know Friday is dead but don’t know when he died; October 4th 2005 is when we lost a GIANT who inspired the sound of Calypso/Soca in this REGION to INCLUDE the likes of MACHEL MANTANO‼️ Machel would tell you that with his own mouth if asked. This is not speculation, Machel has LITERALLY said this before on multiple occasions.

TOMORROW will mark 20 years since Friday left us but his influence has stretched to the makers of BRAM TOO‼️ Individuals like Friday should NEVER be forgotten and individuals unaware of this context should be made aware of his influence and his music EVEN IF the grief of the loss of another GIANT LIKE SASSO is more impactful to you. We understand someone’s grief may weigh heavier on their mind because of recency bias (It’s a legit term. Not an insult!) or their interpersonal relationships with Sasso are more prevalent and we extend our sincerest condolences to those individuals BUT I ASSURE those of you who feel that way, there are those who STILL mourn Daddy Friday every October 4th as WE WILL mourn Sasso tomorrow at his funeral. Their feelings are no less valid than yours and to those of us who knew and appreciated both men… GOD DAMN‼️ The sad FACT remains Sasso’s funeral is on the Anniversary of Friday’s death and both have earned their honors.

As a matter of fact, it was Trumpet of Rush Entertainment who messaged us earlier this week to say we should pay homage to Friday on this day. When individuals like Trumpet ask us to do things we try our damndest; while it’s something we would have probably done anyway Trumpet deserves recognition in this process AND we should never not NEVER forget in the words of the great P-U-M-P-A “Trumpet ain’t go’n let you in de jam if Yo’z 6 years old… Stick on yo high heel shoes.”

As a society it feels like we have confirmed to the seeds of division designed to weaken us. The young from the old. The Spanish from the English. The White from Black. The Democrats from the Republicans. Small island from Big island. St. Thomas from St. Croix. FM from Digital. 😉 We don’t subscribe to that magazine of thought at ViVid Streaming.

Kelique Hattrick Raymo our goal (see what I did there?!) was to clarify any 🤔 or 🧐 that may have been out there because we opted to pay tribute to TWO GREAT VIRGIN ISLANDERS and not just one. We hope this correspondence helped.

We also heard Gweedo say he’s going to include the late great Pupa Kelly in his mix at 4 today. Which means in the midst of all these great men we are also going to hear the handy H***Y 🎺 work and arrangement of BOOTS as well.

We would venture to say Sasso would be HONORED to be among these giants. They were his musical heroes! He’s said that to us interviews, they helped mold the greatness that was/is Sasso. I would venture to say as someone who got to know his mother (my other mother) Merle well, she would be proud that her son is regarded as a GREAT and her son’s music can stand next to theirs. After-all… what better way to prove that than to play them TOGETHER?!

MAYBE the Jam Band name doesn’t mean to some of you what it means to some of us. Maybe you’re of the opinion that music should have passed on and the very foundation Sasso stood upon should have crumbled when those great men passed on but as custodians of this culture please believe; you will appreciate the stand we take 20 years from now when the foundation ViVid Streaming is built on let’s the management and staff of that version of this online station know they better play Sasso AND Friday on the anniversaries of their passing for the world to hear who our legends were/are.

We hope this afternoon’s tribute to these great men who contributed to the Legacy of Jam Band is met with the same honor, respect and appreciation we have for these icons who were ALL taken from us far too soon. Condolences to all personally impacted by these losses. Lucky for us there music will live FOREVER and ViVid Streaming will play them until we are no longer...

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention what would be a HUGE deal on any other day for us. TODAY we had the lovely and talented IMANI RAY with NEW MUSIC for TRINIDAD 2026 release and interview in The Good Mahnin Show. Bad Gyal was written and produced by Virgin Islanders I-Bari & Jay Alexander respectively. Respek to those superstar talents and thank you for bringing your work to ViVid Streaming. Virgin Islanders and their contributions to music past and present, living and gone should be appreciated and respected. ViVid Streaming in your App & Play Stores to hear
