Not to turn KYD into a rom-com, but I’ll provide a little backstory to this picture.
Geez... this is going to get sappy. 🤦♂️
This picture was taken in San Francisco just a few hours before I proposed. Unbeknownst to Trish, I had dinner reservations at the Carnelian Room in the Bank of America Building.
As you might know from past episodes, my dad was from San Rafael and eventually lived in Lake Tahoe after retiring. We frequently flew to Tahoe to visit, but on this trip, I surprised Trish with a trip to San Francisco.
I managed to get Southwest Airlines in on it too! This was before 9/11, and you likely remember the things SWA would do “back in the day.” They were all about the fact that Trish didn’t know where she was going, so they called our names over the speaker and said we had “won early boarding.” Trish was shocked.
Meanwhile, they announced to the rest of the passengers that she didn’t know the destination, so they wouldn’t be announcing it. But rest assured, we're headed to San Francisco. ✈️
Keep in mind, I didn’t know they had done this either.
So when Trish eventually said, “This flight seems longer than normal,” I said, “Why don’t you ask the guy behind us where we’re going?”
So she did.
And the guy said, “I don’t know.”
Now we’re BOTH confused! 😂
Eventually, I told her that my parents were in San Francisco visiting some friends, so I thought we’d spend the day there and then drive to Tahoe. Made sense.
But as Paul Harvey would say, the rest of the story happened later that night over dinner.
And you know what she said.
Now, the reason for the Bronco pic is that I had to pull some money out of it to buy the ring. The same ring you see in the current episodes... so my Ford loyalty goes all the way back to the beginning.
The other reason for the Bronco pic is to get this rom-com post back on track! 😂
Looking back now, we were just kids.
