Vietnam and the United States have moved a step closer to finalising a reciprocal trade agreement. On 10 November in Washington, D.C., Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien met with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer for ministerial-level talks. The US Trade Representative welcomed the two sides’ joint statement on a fair, balanced and mutually beneficial trade framework, calling it an important basis to accelerate the negotiation process. He also commended Vietnam’s constructive and solutions-focused approach to US proposals. The Vietnamese Minister reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to a practical and flexible negotiation spirit, aiming for a balanced and sustainable economic partnership. Both sides said the session was key to resolving outstanding issues and reaching an agreement soon.
