VEN at Vietnam BirdRace 2026, Cát Tiên National Park. We were proud to be part of a community of birders, wildlife photographers, researchers and conservationists gathered around one shared mission: documenting and protecting the birds of Vietnam. These photos were taken during our time there. Cát Tiên is home to over 300 recorded species — from the Green Peafowl to the Great Hornbill — and events like BirdRace are a powerful reminder of what responsible nature engagement looks like in practice.

Three bee-eaters. One country. Zero competition. 🪲

Vietnam is home to five species of bee-eater — here are three you can find in the south:

- the Blue-throated / Trẩu Lớn (Merops viridis)
- Blue-tailed / Trẩu ngực nâu (Merops philippinus)
- Chestnut-headed / Trảu Đầu Hạt Dẻ (Merops leschenaulti).

Each one a precision hunter, catching insects mid-air and beating the sting out before swallowing.

Best time to spot them: February–April.

Hotspots: Cát Tiên, Tràm Chim, Hoà Bắc (Da Nang).
