Had my first pho in Vietnam at a random and tiny local place in Hanoi.
I choose this place to have as much of an authentic local experience as possible.
After a long and arguably terrifying bus ride from Luang Prabang to Hanoi, we made it.
(I was quite tired as you can see from my hair.)
The pho was okay, not the best. I tried pho at every city I went to in Vietnam and found the best place in Ho Chi Minh.
It was not a local place, unfortunately, but it was SO GOOD. Went there around 4/6 nights there.
However, one of my favorite things about backpacking through Asia was getting comfortable eating street food and realizing that it can taste a lot better than I expected.
Having grown up in Mexico, street food was not new to me, but my perspective about it changed in Asia while meeting travelers who were so much into trying the local street food.
Loved it so much that it became a bit part of my experience too. 🤪
Not the healthiest for my body but thank god, i was always fine. 😅
(It’s also a challenge to interact with locals but with a phone in hand, there are really no excuses… And this is also the fun part about immersing in a new culture.)
Highly recommend trying street food if available in your next trip!
