✨[[Day 1 | CLEWs Training Course 2026 at NEU]

📚The first day of the CLEWs (Climate – Land – Energy – Water Systems) Training Course at the National Economics University took place in an active, engaging, and highly enthusiastic atmosphere.

👉The programme began with an opening session and welcome remarks from representatives of the participating institutions, highlighting the importance of integrated approaches in research, teaching, and evidence-based policymaking for sustainable development in Vietnam.

👉During the first day, participants worked together with experts from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden to explore the fundamental concepts of the CLEWs model, discuss its potential applications in the Vietnamese context, and begin engaging with the representation of the energy system within the model. The discussions were open and substantive, reflecting participants’ strong interest in and high expectations for this analytical tool.

👉It was a very positive start to the learning journey ahead. CCG Vietnam believes that the training course will continue to generate practical value and contribute to strengthening integrated analytical capacity in support of green transition and sustainable development.

📚Ngày đầu tiên của khóa đào tạo CLEWs (Climate – Land – Energy – Water Systems) tại Đại học Kinh tế Quốc dân đã diễn ra trong không khí sôi nổi, tích cực và đầy hứng khởi.

👉Chương trình mở đầu với phiên khai mạc và các phát biểu chào mừng từ đại diện các bên tham gia, khẳng định ý nghĩa của cách tiếp cận tích hợp trong nghiên cứu, giảng dạy và hỗ trợ hoạch định chính sách phát triển bền vững tại Việt Nam.

👉Trong ngày học đầu tiên, học viên đã cùng các chuyên gia từ KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden tiếp cận những nội dung nền tảng của mô hình CLEWs, thảo luận về khả năng ứng dụng cho bối cảnh Việt Nam, đồng thời bắt đầu làm quen với cách biểu diễn hệ thống năng lượng trong mô hình. Các trao đổi diễn ra cởi mở, thực chất, cho thấy sự quan tâm và kỳ vọng rất lớn của các học viên đối với công cụ này.

👉Một khởi đầu rất tích cực cho hành trình học tập trong những ngày tiếp theo. CCG Vietnam tin rằng khóa đào tạo sẽ tiếp tục mang lại nhiều giá trị thiết thực, góp phần tăng cường năng lực phân tích tích hợp phục vụ chuyển đổi xanh và phát triển bền vững.

🌍[EVENT NEWS] CCG VIETNAM ATTENDS THE 4TH LAO PDR CCG ANNUAL WORKSHOP

✨ From February 12th to 14th, 2026, a delegation from the Climate Compatible Growth Vietnam Network (CCG Vietnam) participated in the 4th Lao PDR CCG Annual Workshop held in Vientiane.

🤝 Connecting and Knowledge Sharing
At the workshop, CCG Vietnam presented updates on our recent activities and research outcomes. This mission provided a valuable platform for the delegation to:
- Exchange insights with international partners within the global CCG network.
- Strengthen collaboration with key stakeholders and partners in Laos.
- Reaffirm the importance of cross-border connectivity in disseminating knowledge and driving collective action toward sustainable development.

🏛️ A highlight of the mission was a formal meeting between CCG Vietnam members and the Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR. The delegation extended their congratulations and engaged in productive discussions regarding future collaborative initiatives, particularly in green finance and energy transition policies.

✨ This mission not only opens new doors for cooperation but also underscores CCG Vietnam’s commitment to supporting the energy transition and climate resilience across Southeast Asia.

🌍 Từ ngày 12/02 đến 14/02/2026, đoàn công tác của Mạng lưới Phát triển Tương thích với Khí hậu Việt Nam (CCG Việt Nam) đã có chuyến công tác thành công tại Viêng Chăn, Lào, tham dự Hội thảo thường niên lần thứ 4 của mạng lưới CCG Lào.

🤝 Kết nối và Lan tỏa Tri thức
Tại hội thảo, CCG Việt Nam đã chia sẻ và cập nhật các kết quả nghiên cứu cũng như hoạt động nổi bật của mạng lưới trong thời gian qua. Đây là cơ hội quý giá để đoàn:
- Trao đổi kinh nghiệm với các đối tác quốc tế trong mạng lưới CCG toàn cầu.
- Thắt chặt mối quan hệ hợp tác với các chuyên gia và đối tác tại Lào.
- Khẳng định vai trò của liên kết xuyên biên giới trong việc lan tỏa tri thức, hướng tới các hành động cụ thể nhằm thúc đẩy tăng trưởng xanh và bền vững tại khu vực.

🏛️ Đặc biệt, trong khuôn khổ chuyến công tác, các thành viên CCG Việt Nam đã có buổi gặp mặt thân mật và chúc mừng Thống đốc Ngân hàng Nhà nước Lào. Tại đây, hai bên đã thảo luận sâu về các kế hoạch hợp tác tiềm năng trong thời gian tới, đặc biệt là trong lĩnh vực tài chính xanh và chính sách hỗ trợ chuyển dịch năng lượng.

📚[CCG Vietnam Network | Upcoming CLEWs Training Course in Hanoi]

👉Next week, the CCG Vietnam Network, in collaboration with the National Economics University (NEU) and experts from KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), will organize an intensive training course entitled:
“Applying the Climate, Land, Energy and Water Systems (CLEWs) Model for Scenario and Policy Analysis.”

🕒Taking place from 16–20 March 2026 at the National Economics University, Hanoi, the course is designed to strengthen participants’ capacity to use the CLEWs (Climate-Land-Energy-Water systems) model as an interdisciplinary analytical tool for research and sustainable development policymaking.

👉Through an integrated approach linking climate, land, energy, and water, the training will help participants better understand the interconnections and trade-offs among development goals in the context of green transition and climate change adaptation. Importantly, the course is structured in a hands-on format, enabling participants to gradually practice model building, data input, and scenario design tailored to the Vietnamese context.

📚The course program includes:
- An introduction to CLEWs and systems thinking in integrated modelling
- Representation of the energy system in CLEWs
- Representation of land and water resources
- Modelling the interlinkages across sectors
- Building and analyzing policy scenarios
- Extending the model to practical needs, including possible applications related to the circular economy

👉The training will also provide an opportunity to connect researchers, policymakers, and partners within the CCG network, fostering dialogue on needs, expectations, and future directions for applying modelling tools in Vietnam.

- Mô tả hệ thống năng lượng trong mô hình CLEWs
- Mô tả hệ thống đất đai và tài nguyên nước
- Mô hình hóa các mối liên kết giữa các hợp phần
- Xây dựng và phân tích các kịch bản chính sách
- Mở rộng mô hình theo nhu cầu thực tiễn, bao gồm cả các hướng tiếp cận gắn với kinh tế tuần hoàn.

👉Khóa đào tạo cũng là dịp để kết nối các nhà nghiên cứu, cơ quan chính sách và các đối tác trong mạng lưới CCG, cùng chia sẻ nhu cầu, kỳ vọng và định hướng ứng dụng công cụ mô hình hóa trong thực tiễn Việt Nam.

🎉 The UK Government–funded Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for Green Finance project delegation, in collaboration with the UK Skills Partnership, held a working session at the National Economics University (NEU) to support Vietnam’s transition toward a green, low-emissions economy.

🌿 [CCG Vietnam promotes knowledge exchange on circular economy in the transport and construction sectors]

Today, CCG Vietnam is honored to collaborate with the Academy for Construction Strategic Training (Ministry of Construction) in organizing a thematic workshop on the circular economy in the transport and construction sectors, with the participation of both Vietnamese and international experts.

At the workshop, Vietnamese experts presented research findings, policy analyses, and practical recommendations tailored to the national context, alongside international experience shared by speakers from the United Kingdom. These presentations and discussions are expected to contribute to the development of the sectoral Circular Economy Action Plan currently being undertaken by the Ministry of Construction.

✨ Through this activity, CCG Vietnam continues to: (i) connect Vietnamese and international experts, (ii) facilitate knowledge sharing and methodological exchange, (iii) and support capacity building for research and implementation of sustainable development initiatives.

CCG Vietnam looks forward to continuing to accompany government agencies, research institutions, and thematic working groups in advancing green transition and circular economy implementation in Vietnam.

Tại hội thảo, các chuyên gia trong nước đã trình bày những kết quả nghiên cứu, phân tích chính sách và đề xuất giải pháp phù hợp với bối cảnh Việt Nam, cùng với những chia sẻ kinh nghiệm quốc tế từ các diễn giả đến từ Vương quốc Anh. Những thông tin và trao đổi này góp phần hỗ trợ quá trình xây dựng Kế hoạch hành động thực hiện kinh tế tuần hoàn cấp ngành đang được triển khai tại Bộ Xây dựng.

🌿🇻🇳 CCG Global External Evaluator Engages with Partner Organizations in Vietnam (17–21 November 2025)

👉From 17–21 November 2025, CCG Global’s external evaluator, Ms. Radhika Menon, conducted a series of interviews with partner organizations in Vietnam that are implementing CCG-supported projects and participating in capacity-building activities under the CCG network.

👉During the interviews, the partner institutions shared insights on their engagement with the CCG network; progress and emerging results from ongoing projects; key facilitators and challenges in project implementation; observed short-term impacts and long-term potential; as well as recommendations to enhance cooperation and effectiveness in the coming period.

🎙️ [Technical Seminar Summary: Climate-Compatible Growth & Introduction to the CLEWs Model]

📚 On November 18, 2025, CCG Vietnam, in collaboration with the Climate-Compatible Growth (CCG) research program, successfully organized a technical seminar on the topic: “Issues in Climate-Compatible Growth and Introduction to the Climate, Land, Energy, and Water Systems (CLEWs) Model.”

💡 Highlights of the roundtable:
• Shared and updated research findings across multiple areas: electric bus financing, circular economy, building cooling solutions, coal mining, job transitions, and GESI integration.
• Discussed development directions for priority SIGs in the near future.
• Officially launched the CLEWs journey with an introductory lecture on the integrated Climate–Land–Energy–Water model, a tool that supports evidence-based policy planning. The CLEWs model enables simultaneous analysis of energy demand, water use, climate variability, and land-use changes, while simulating future scenarios to identify optimal pathways for Vietnam.

🌍 With the participation of experts from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), the University of Oxford, and the National Economics University, the seminar was not only a platform for knowledge exchange but also opened opportunities for collaboration to accelerate green transition and sustainable development.

🎙️[Tổng kết Tọa đàm Kỹ thuật: Tăng trưởng tương thích với khí hậu & Giới thiệu mô hình CLEWs]

📚Ngày 18/11/2025, CCG Việt Nam phối hợp với Chương trình nghiên cứu Tăng trưởng thích ứng với khí hậu (CCG) đã tổ chức thành công Tọa đàm kỹ thuật với chủ đề: “Các vấn đề về tăng trưởng tương thích với khí hậu và giới thiệu mô hình tích hợp khí hậu, đất đai, năng lượng và nước (CLEWs)”.

💡Điểm nhấn của tọa đàm:
- Chia sẻ và cập nhật kết quả nghiên cứu từ nhiều lĩnh vực: tài chính xe buýt điện, kinh tế tuần hoàn, giải pháp làm mát tòa nhà, khai thác than, chuyển đổi việc làm và lồng ghép GESI.
- Thảo luận về định hướng phát triển các SIG ưu tiên trong thời gian tới.
- Chính thức khởi động hành trình CLEWs với bài giảng giới thiệu mô hình tích hợp Khí hậu – Đất đai – Năng lượng – Nước, công cụ hỗ trợ hoạch định chính sách dựa trên bằng chứng. Mô hình CLEWs cho phép phân tích đồng thời nhu cầu năng lượng, sử dụng nước, biến động khí hậu và thay đổi sử dụng đất, đồng thời mô phỏng các kịch bản tương lai để lựa chọn phương án tối ưu cho Việt Nam.

🌍 Với sự tham gia của các chuyên gia từ Viện Công nghệ Hoàng gia Thụy Điển (KTH), Đại học Oxford, và Đại học Kinh tế Quốc dân, tọa đàm không chỉ là nơi trao đổi kiến thức mà còn mở ra cơ hội hợp tác để thúc đẩy chuyển dịch xanh và phát triển bền vững.

🌍 CCG Vietnam Joins Webinar on the FlatPack Curriculum 📚✨

Today, coordinators of CCG Vietnam participated in the “FlatPack Curriculum” Webinar organized by the international Energy Modelling Community.

🔹 FlatPack is an innovative initiative designed to integrate open-source energy and financial modelling tools into university teaching and research.
🔹 The webinar introduced what FlatPack is, the two pathways to bring it into academic institutions, and the benefits it offers for both lecturers and students – from enhancing learning quality to opening new opportunities for professional recognition.
🔹 Academics who have already implemented FlatPack also shared their real-world experiences, challenges, and successes during the session.

💡 With tools such as OSeMOSYS, MAED, CLEWs, OnSSET, and FINPLAN, FlatPack is set to become a vital bridge that links teaching with research, connects evidence to policy, and strengthens the global network of practitioners.

👉 This marks an important step for academic and research institutions in Vietnam – including CCG Vietnam – to continue innovating, integrating, and contributing actively to sustainable energy development.

🌍 Hội thảo giới thiệu Chương trình giảng dạy FlatPack 📚✨

Hôm nay, các điều phối viên của CCG Việt Nam đã cùng tham dự buổi Webinar “FlatPack Curriculum” do Cộng đồng Mô hình hóa Năng lượng quốc tế tổ chức.

🔹 FlatPack là một sáng kiến mới nhằm tích hợp các công cụ mô hình hóa năng lượng và tài chính mã nguồn mở vào giảng dạy và nghiên cứu tại các trường đại học.
🔹 Buổi webinar đã giới thiệu tổng quan về FlatPack, hai hướng triển khai trong các cơ sở đào tạo, cùng những lợi ích mà nó mang lại cho giảng viên và sinh viên - từ nâng cao chất lượng học tập cho đến mở rộng cơ hội công nhận nghề nghiệp.
🔹 Các giảng viên đã và đang áp dụng FlatPack cũng chia sẻ những kinh nghiệm thực tế, thách thức và thành công trong quá trình triển khai.

💡 Với các công cụ sẵn có như OSeMOSYS, MAED, CLEWs, OnSSET và FINPLAN, FlatPack hứa hẹn trở thành cầu nối quan trọng giúp giảng dạy gắn liền nghiên cứu, đồng thời kết nối chính sách và mở rộng mạng lưới toàn cầu các nhà thực hành .

👉 Đây là bước khởi đầu quan trọng để các cơ sở đào tạo, nghiên cứu ở Việt Nam – trong đó có CCG Việt Nam – tiếp tục đổi mới, hội nhập và đóng góp tích cực vào sự phát triển bền vững trong lĩnh vực năng lượng.

FlatPack is an initiative from CCG that helps universities bring open-source energy and financial modelling tools into their teaching and research. It is designed to strengthen learning, support research, and give academics and students the tools they need to connect with real world energy policy and planning.

Our aim has always been to ensure that countries in the can continue to use these vital open-source modelling tools long into the future. The best way to do this is by calling on the teaching expertise of local universities and embedding the energy modelling training into their existing climate curriculum. They can do this by adopting the ready-made curriculum modules we call the ‘FlatPack curriculum’.

The benefits of that approach are that local teachers can add local context to the scenario modelling to make it even better; fully trained cohorts of graduates come out of the university and into the ministerial roles where they’re needed; the expense of using external consultants and commercial models disappears.

“I had the opportunity to participate in the Geospatial Data Management course organized by CCG. After completing the course, I integrated key concepts, tools, and exercises from FlatPack into my Geographic Information System (GIS) course at the National Economics University (NEU). Several students have expressed interest in pursuing related research topics or applying geospatial tools in their future careers”.
