The Infirmary (Furness Cottage) is undergoing a substantial rehabilitation. This historic structure, built in 1890, suffered damage when Hurricane Matthew uprooted a live oak tree just to the east of the building. Efforts are underway to stabilize the cottage. Research has revealed that the shingle-style Queen Anne structure was likely painted a light grayish-blue after being moved to its current location for use as an Infirmary in 1930. Returning to this Club Era color will result in a dramatic change to the appearance of the cottage.

Did you know? The original St. Simons Lighthouse was built in 1810 but was destroyed by Confederate forces during the Civil War to prevent Union forces from using it as a navigational aid. The current standing lighthouse was built in 1872.

Are you kidding? Bring it on!

Midway Congregational-It is hard to believe that the wood frame church before you was built in 1792, but Midway is certainly one of the most beautiful churches in the state.

Built in 1917 and restored 2014-2017 .It's in Ball Ground (Cherokee County). Built by treasurer of the local bank - local lore has it that it wasn't his money though, which explains why he left town shortly after it was completed, leaving it in the ownership of the bank (which then promptly went out of business). Owned by a single family since 1952. Another picture in comments.

The Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce advised its members via email Wednesday morning that it would move forward with demolition of the historic Dart House, located at 4 Glynn Avenue

This is what happens when historic preservation is not a priority to an historic city. Despite our efforts, The Chamber of Commerce has chosen to demolish Dart House. If this makes you as upset as it does us, please contact the media and the Chamber to express your disappointment and outrage. This is an enormous loss to our city.
