Hoi An is famous for its lanterns, but the places I loved most were actually outside the Ancient Town.

From herb farms and pottery villages to rice fields, coconut forests, and island escapes, there's so much more to discover.

People often ask me:
“If I only have 3 days in Central Vietnam, where should I go?”

Honestly, this is probably the itinerary I’d recommend most often.

Start with Hoi An. Yes, it’s touristy. Yes, it gets crowded. But walking around the Ancient Town after sunset is still one of those experiences that never gets old. The lanterns, the riverside atmosphere, the food stalls… it just works.

On day two, I’d get out of the city and head to Cu Lao Cham. Personally, I think this island is still underrated compared to some of the more famous beach destinations in Southeast Asia. The water is clear, snorkeling is easy, and it feels like a completely different pace of life.

For the last day, wake up early and go to Man Thai Beach. Most visitors never make it there for sunrise, which is a shame because it’s one of my favorite times to be by the sea in Da Nang. Afterwards, grab a coffee near My Khe Beach and take it slow.

What I like about this route is that it doesn’t try to do everything.

A lot of Vietnam itineraries are packed with attractions. This one gives you a bit of culture, a bit of island life, some great food, and enough free time to actually enjoy where you are.

If it’s your first time in Central Vietnam, I’d start here.

👇 Comment “Da Nang” and I’ll send you the complete itinerary.
