πŸ’‹πŸ± Love is in the air, fresh kitty breath for all to share. Cappy is here to remind you that routine teeth cleanings are very important. Dental disease is super prevalent in adult cats and can be extremely uncomfortable (I know firsthand from Cappy’s experience). Cappy has undergone multiple tooth extractions caused by tooth resorption. The biggest signs I noticed with Cappy’s tooth discomfort included excessive drooling and difficulty picking up and eating hard food. I’ve learned that some cats are more susceptible to resorptive lesions than others, so thankfully I can keep Cappy’s teeth comfy and have them examined every year. In between dental cleanings, I make sure to keep an eye on his gums for any inflammation or tooth discoloration. My goal is to keep Cappy comfy and cozy so we can spend more quality time together.

ur sweetest little cappybear turns 7 today. What an honor to experience another year with you!..

Six was a very defining year for our little bear. Cappy experienced more change within one year than most go through in a decade. He demonstrated his fearless sense of bravery, all while exemplifying unconditional love and kindness. We really don't deserve Cappy.

πŸ“·Cappy's Sixth Year in 6 Snapshots:
1. Confirmed osteoarthritis diagnosis in his right little hippie while embracing the bunny hops for life
2. Adjusted to a new home with multiple stories, 5x the size of his comfort, and braved the stairs against all odds
3. Welcomed Scott into his life for good & gave his blessing for the proposal
4. Lost the only brother he ever knew without even a chance to say goodbye
5. Found a love for guasha scritches, tooshie air dries, and fur brushing routines
6. Continues to fearlessly advocate his disabilities by inspiring current & future pet owners

I can't wait to see what Cappy's 7th year has in storeπŸΎγ€°οΈ

I could be wrong but im pretty positive Cappy still has his tail in picture 3. This was one of Cappy's bb photos back in Dubai.

Last picture is Cappy's first purrito wrap in his forever home in 2017. He was so sleepy but sooooo stinky. The bath needed to happen lol. He trusted my care in the water since the beginning.πŸ’•

nothing sweeter than matching sweaters with my soul cat πŸ“ advocating for Cappy's care is so important, so I always make sure to establish a baseline with his basic patterns and behaviors. That way, if something seems different, I have a frame of reference to compare. Last winter I noticed Cappy didn't find as much joy chasing his feather wand. Diaper changes especially were uncomfortable. Cappy almost seemed upset with me, and it made our relationship feel strained. I'm relieved I noticed these changes because Cappy ended up having osteoarthritis in his right hip. Once we figured this out, we were able to manage his discomfort.

Bb put on a little bit of weight, and I'm so proud πŸ₯Ή I was assured Cappy was never considered underweight by any means; however, when Cappy eats as much as he does.... it was SOOOO unsettling watching his little kitten body get teenier and teenier. He used to be a strong 10 lbs for 4+ years. Last year, when he started having the GI problems, his weight went down to 8.6 lbs. That was the lowest he'd ever been! But again, he wasn't underweight. Just under Cappy's weight. Today at the vet, Cappy was a chonky 9.04 lbs! It's not so much the fact that he's 9 lbs specifically, but rather it's the relief that he's not continuing to lose weight.

Throwback.. πŸ’” A little Friday magic, missing our lele extra today. This morning cappy sat on his water proof blankie, right next to one of LeLe's pieces of fur wadded up in a little ball. It was still attached to the blankie. And of course cappy knew to sit right next to it. Such a special moment for Cappy. We miss LeLe dearly each day, but we are so grateful for his continuous presence showing up when we least expect it. We also are grateful he sent Hadley our way too 🩡
