Join me at the start of an epic 14-day journey along the ancient Silk Road! In this first episode, I'm diving headfirst into Kashgar, China's westernmost city and a historic crossroads of cultures, languages, and faiths.
My first impression? Kashgar is incredibly lively and bustling, even with some serious air pollution on arrival! I explore the narrow lanes of the Old Town, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. But what's a new city without trying its unique local food scene?
Get ready for some truly adventurous eats! You'll see me trying:
- Freshly baked Naan bread straight from the clay oven
- A surprisingly sweet goose egg with honey and saffron (It's not what you think!)
- And a very unique local bird broth (The type of bird shocked me though!)
I also check into my stylish hotel with its cool mood lighting and even get some much-needed laundry done in the hotel gym!
This journey is a deep dive into the rich tapestry of Asian culture, from Uyghur and Tajik traditions to Buddhist and Persian influences still alive in the streets, food, and people of this incredible region.
