On September 30, Canadians wear orange shirts to honor the children who never came home and the survivors of Residential Schools.

The orange shirt comes from the story of Phyllis Webstad, whose new orange shirt was taken away on her first day at school. It has since become a powerful symbol of loss, resilience, and hope.

✨ When you wear an orange shirt, you stand for truth, respect, and reconciliation.
✨ You show the world that Every Child Matters.

👉 Get yours today and wear it with pride. Together, let’s keep the memory alive and the spirit strong theo dõi

Spent hours yesterday sewing this shirt for work so I could have an orange scrub top that complied with the dress code. I was the only one in orange, but it was so bright, everyone could see it.

The Apache Sunrise Ceremony celebrates a girl becoming a woman. Girls prepare for the ritual for six months or more. During the ceremony, which can last four days, the girls sing, pray, run, and dance, often for hours without stopping. Here, a girl from the White Mountain Apache tribe in Arizona is blessed with pollen, symbolizing fertility.
Any other nations have similar "coming of age" ceremonies?

White Cloud, Michigan 2011. I lived in a double wide trailer in the middle of no where, no cable, no neighbors, just national forest. There was a creek near my home, a stump from an old tree in the middle of the creek. I had just started a new relationship after 11 years of alone time, raised my children alone, I was not going to bring a stepfather into their lives because I knew the damage that had been done to me caused by my ex destroying me, my spirit was broke. Bringing a man into my life around my children was not the smart thing to do. After the children were grown I figured it's my turn. I met David through a friend. Two weeks into the relationship a Raven started showing up in my yard and on the stump in the creek. This bird was huge! And beautiful! I knew he had a message for me. The bird paid me visits everyday for a week. One day when David was leaving my home to return to his home, the Raven perched on the stump flew in front of David's windshield and led David down the road about 200 yards, David was in awe! He said the wing span of the bird was the length of the windshield, he also said "if there wasn't glass between us I could have touched him". David stopped the car and grabbed the camera, the bird circled him 3 times. I didn't see the Raven after that. My cousin told me the Raven seal my love until I was ready to take it over, I was scared of being hurt again. The Ravens message was clear, (do not be afraid) I married David in 2013, a Native American ceremony in our back yard. Two Ravens circled our ceremony. That's our power bird. ~she walked plenty~
