Facts about Tasmin:
The TVR Tasmin was launched in 1980 as the first model in TVR’s "Wedge" series, known for its sharp, angular body design by Oliver Winterbottom. It was available as a 2-seater convertible or coupé, and a 2+2 version. The Tasmin was built on a tubular steel chassis and featured a lightweight fiberglass body, which helped keep the car's weight low and its performance high. The car initially used a Ford 2.8-liter V6 "Cologne" engine, producing 160 horsepower. In 1981, TVR introduced a more budget-friendly version, the Tasmin 200, which used a smaller 2.0-liter Ford engine, though it was less popular due to its reduced performance.
The Tasmin featured independent suspension and disc brakes on all four wheels, making it agile and providing a solid driving experience. Its interior was considered luxurious, with features like electric windows and wood veneer accents. Despite its stylish design and unique characteristics, the Tasmin struggled with competition in its price range, and performance expectations rose quickly during the 1980s. The Tasmin series eventually evolved into the TVR 280i before production ended in 1987.
