An important reminder from Samoa Public Service Commission as elections approach — remain neutral, impartial, and respectful.

A reminder on political neutrality

As public servants, we each have a responsibility to uphold political neutrality – not just on election day, but every day.

Recently, we’ve noticed increasing instances of public servants engaging in political debates online in ways that show favour toward one party over another, or using disrespectful language on social media. While everyone is entitled to personal views, sharing them in a way that compromises neutrality can damage both your reputation and the reputation of the public service as a whole.

Remaining impartial and respectful – especially during election season – helps protect the trust and confidence the public places in us.

If you see behaviour that doesn’t align with our responsibility to remain neutral, you can (and should) report it through the appropriate channels. Speaking up helps protect the trust and confidence the public places in us all.

Contact the Public Service Commission or check out our information sheet:https://www.psc.gov.ws/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Spirit-of-Service-during-elections-2025-A422.pdf.pdf

Let’s keep doing our part to uphold the integrity of our public service.
