Samoa’s Cyber Week 2025: Protecting Our Future, Empowering Our People

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) proudly announces Samoa’s Cyber Week 2025, a national event running from Sunday 26 to Friday 31 October 2025, under the theme “Protecting Our Future, Empowering Our People.”
Cyber Week 2025 will unite Government, Development Partners, the Private Sector, and Communities in a shared commitment to strengthen Samoa’s digital resilience, promote online safety, and empower citizens to take ownership of their digital future.
🌐 About Cyber Week 2025
Since its inception in 2022, Samoa’s Cyber Week has become a national platform to raise cyber awareness, strengthen capacity, and promote responsible digital practices. This year’s edition is particularly significant as it celebrates:
🚀The launch of the One Government Portal – www.mygov.gov.ws
🛠️The advancement of the GovStack initiative, in partnership with the ITU to enhance interoperability and scalability in government digital services.
👾The continued uplift of technical cyber capacity of local IT practitioners in partnership with the RAPID team
📅 Programme Highlights
Sunday 26 October – Opening Ceremony
🙏The week begins with a cultural and spiritual celebration integrating fa’asamoa and technology, reflecting Samoa’s values of respect, community, and faith in the digital age.
Monday 27 October – Cyber Awareness & Youth Engagement
🎤 Panel: "Online Safety for Schools and Communities" with MWCSD, OOTR, a Samoa Youth Entrepreneur, and Australia’s eSafety Commissioner.
🔹 Presentations by SamCERT, RAPID, the Ministry of Police and Prisons, and Samoa IT Association.
🔹 Talavou Cyber student presentations from NUS + Lite Cyber Training - Red Team scenarios and a special session with Meta.
🔹 Technical Track Begins: Threat Hunt Refreshers for IT practitioners led by RAPID and SamCERT
Tuesday 28 October – Cybersecurity & Emerging Technologies
🎤 Panel: “Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies in Samoa” with NBS, SkyEye Pacific, Bytewatchers, and WebSafe Samoa
🔹 Presentations by RAPID and Bytewatchers on common cyber threats and defensive strategies.
🔹 Hands-on cyber simulations and tabletop exercises for technical participants.
🔹 Continued technical threat hunting scenarios and training of the Technical Stream.
Wednesday 29 October – Advanced Threat Exercises
🔹 Full-day technical simulation led by RAPID and SamCERT.
Thursday 30 October – GovStack and Digital Transformation
🎤 Key Session: “Samoa’s Digital Transformation Journey.”
🔹 Workshop led by ITU and SamCERT on GovStack tools, service design, and building block architecture.
🔹 Participants will explore “as-is” and “to-be” user journeys to develop future-ready digital services.
Friday 31 October – Closing & Launch
🎉 Presentation of Service Design projects and Business Requirements Documents.
🎯 Official Launch of the One Government Portal (www.mygov.gov.ws)
💬 Networking session for government, industry, and development partners to close the 2025 Cyber week.

By the end of Cyber Week 2025, Samoa will have:
✅ Increased national awareness of cybersecurity and online safety.
✅ Strengthened government and technical capacity in cyber defence and digital transformation.
✅ Greater youth engagement and public participation.
✅ A co-developed framework for digital government applications based on GovStack principles.
✅ Enhanced understanding of Samoa’s Digital Transformation Strategy and Smart Island initiatives
