Welcome to Voices of the Vezo, a platform for sharing stories and knowledge of Vezo people about environmental change and the impact it has on Vezo lives.
Vezo livelihoods are closely tied to the health of the ocean. As a result, Vezo people have excellent knowledge about the changes in their local environment caused by threats such as climate change and overfishing.
Through film and storytelling, our goal is to document and mobilise the local environmental knowledge of Vezo people and share it locally, nationally and abroad.
Over the coming months we will release several short films, filmed by youth groups in Vezo villages in southwest Madagascar. These films investigate and document the transformation of the local marine ecosystem over the lifetime of the people living in the villages.
