Yesterday, I was invited to speak at an event to talk about my shero as well as dress like her. This is in honor of the International Women’s Day 2022 - themed
This invitation was a soul searching experience for me because I had to unearth the woman that inspires me the most. It is very easy for most of us to think that our sheroes are the big names we see in the media and big screens but the truth is they barely know us- the true Sheroes are everyday women influencing lives in a very strong, passionate unique ways and most of them are unsung.
I eventually circled down my shero to my maternal grandmother who raised 6 kids by herself- and made sure all of them got an education. She experienced first hand bias against a patriarchal society that forebade women to own lands- no one at that time would sell a land to a woman. She did not only own a land, she built not one but 3 huge houses from her honest business and all of these buildings are still existing till today!
She contributed to her society by empowering other women to start a thriving business and encouraged them to be more than just a cook and cleaners in the house and by extension contributing to the economic growth of the society. She is my Shero as 35 years after her passing, her legacy lives on!
So who is your shero? Who is that woman that has inspired you and what do you both share in common. Please share in the comment section below?

According to an online survey, professionals that wind down their day by reading a great book tend to sleep better, eat more healthier and make more money.
So if you want any of these, you might want to consider reading a great book before you wind down for the day.
I always have She Is Enough from which I co-authored by my nightstand!
The reviews so far has been so encouraging! Some women that read it said, they could not drop it till they read all the stories of all women that contributed a chapter!

It is the D-Day to celebrate the first ever Black Excellence Day in British Columbia Canada!

Thanking all the great minds, institutions, companies supporting and acknowledging this laudable project we put together as we take Black History, Culture and People to the classrooms!

So glad that next generation of British Columbians and hopefully province-wide get to know about Black History first hand in schools! So exciting.

Black Excellence Day
Ninandotoo Anti-Racism Society

As a lead up to Black History Month, Black Excellence Day was created by the Ninandotoo Society. It is a day to rejoice Black history and learn about Black stories, Black art, Black people, and a day to stand in solidarity with Black Canadians. The term Black Excellence was born out of the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

Say Hello to Temi Omotola from our IT Department – she is one of the organizers of Black Excellence Day.

Temitayo hopes this day will educate people to build a more inclusive and diverse society that promotes standing in solidarity with Black Canadians and their struggle for civil rights.

This year over 20 School Districts have signed up to attend the virtual inaugural event which is being hosted by the Burnaby School District and can be streamed at the following link at 10AM today: https://lnkd.in/gyyUCd5c

Fun Fact: Black Excellence is in honor of the great civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was born on January 15, 1929 and has been officially proclaimed by the
