Carlos was enjoying his afternoon scroll on his phone, oblivious to the drama brewing around him. His loyal dog, Max, sat nearby, staring at him intently. Max had been trying to get Carlos' attention for a full ten minutes.
“Bro, we’ve got a problem!” Max thought, wagging his tail impatiently.
Meanwhile, in the window behind Carlos, his wife Maria was watching the whole scene unfold. She had a mix of annoyance and amusement plastered on her face. Max, catching her eye, seemed to plead, “Help me out here, lady! Your human is ignoring me!”
Maria finally broke the silence. “Carlos, I think Max wants to say something,” she said with a smirk.
Carlos looked up, confused. “Say something? He’s a dog, Maria.”
Max let out an exasperated bark, as if to say, “Finally! Listen up! There’s a squirrel plotting world domination in the backyard!”
Maria burst out laughing as Carlos scratched his head, still clueless. Max gave up and slumped onto the floor, muttering (in dog language), “Humans, man. They never understand the important stuff.”
From that day on, Maria made sure Carlos paid more attention to Max—and the backyard squirrel conspiracy.
