BREAKING: Apple Valley, Utah Mayor Declares State of Emergency Amid Flash Flooding

Apple Valley Mayor Mike Farrar has declared a state of emergency after heavy rainfall overwhelmed the town's drainage infrastructure, flooding streets and homes.

Farrar said the storm dropped far more rain than local drains could handle, leaving both roads and residences underwater. He said the declaration has been filed with both Washington County and the state in an effort to secure emergency assistance.

"All hands on deck" crews are currently responding, Farrar said, while asking residents for patience as officials work through a high volume of calls. "I can't take all of the calls right now," he wrote, apologizing for delays in response.
