With immense pride and gratitude, I extend my warmest thanks and congratulations to everyone who contributed to the 79th Independence Day Celebration and made it a truly memorable and grand event.
The day was filled with energy, enthusiasm and patriotism, marked by a wide range of competitions and activities including:
- Patriotic Dance (Junior, JHS, SS & SSS)
- Postering, Drawing and Essay Competitions of Students
- Extempore on Freedom Fighters
- Chess (Students & Open Category)
- Tug of War (Women)
- Passing Ball (Men & Women)
- Women’s Football Tournament
- Inter-School Football Tournament
- Lt. Dal Bdr. Tamang Open Football Tournament

The celebration was further enriched by Aganwadi Millet Product Exhibition-cum-Sale, SHGs Didi-Bahini Khaja Ghar and a beautiful Birds Photogallery, which reflected our vision of ‘Nasha Mukt Sikkim’, eco-friendly practices and encouragement of local culture, health and sustainability.

The celebrations featured the MLA Challenge Cup Football Tournament, along with vibrant performances including skits, patriotic songs, and extempore speeches - each reflecting the love and pride we hold for our great nation.

Today, I had the honour of attending the Kolthang Territorial Constituency Level 79th Independence Day Celebration held at Government Secondary School, Neh-Brum.

It was a proud moment to join the gathering in celebrating our nation’s freedom and remembering the sacrifices of our forefathers.

Congratulations and best wishes to the Organising Committee for the Independence Day Celebration for their dedication and efforts in making the event truly memorable.

Later in the day, I also had the privilege of attending the Shree Bitak Charcha Katha Puja at Shri Krishna Pranami Mandir, Neya. It was a spiritually enriching experience to be part of this divine gathering.

Let us continue to work together in unity, patriotism and devotion for the progress and harmony of our beautiful Sikkim and great nation.

Today, I had the honour of inaugurating the 90 Days Skill Upgradation Training Program on Handloom Weaving at Lower Gagyong.

The program is being organised by the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim.

The event was graced by the presence of Advisor Shri C.L. Gurung, OSD Shri S.B. Rai, OSD to MLA Smt. Denkila Bhutia, Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat Member Smt. Prem Doma Tamang (Sripatam–Gagyong), Hon’ble Panchayat Members Smt. Kaushila Sharma (Namphok), Miss Suk Maya Limboo (Upper Sripatam), Smt. Dhan Maya Chettri (Lower Sripatam), Shri G.S. Chettri (Menglee), Shri Nimu Lepcha (Lower Gagyong), Deputy Director of Directorate of Handloom and Handicrafts Shri Zigmee Bhutia, Master Trainer from Goam Handloom Centre Smt. Sh*tal Tamang, and the 10 enthusiastic trainees from Lower Gagyong.

This training program is not just about learning skills. It is about preserving our rich traditions, promoting self-reliance and ensuring that every artisan can work with dignity and self-respect. Initiatives like this are stepping stones towards empowering our communities while keeping our cultural heritage alive.

My best wishes to all the participants for a fruitful and inspiring journey ahead.

Later in the evening, I had the privilege of attending the Shree Bitak Charcha Katha at Singtam, where I was joined by MLA cm Advisor Smt. Pamin Lepcha and Shri Erung Lepcha. Today, on the occasion of 8th Jan Unmukti Diwas, Sikkim celebrated the first-ever Aama Samman Diwas. A historic and heart-touching initiative to honour the unconditional love, sacrifices and invaluable contributions of our mothers.

On behalf of my constituency, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and deepest appreciation to our visionary leader, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) Sir, for this noble vision that has brought smiles and pride to every household in Sikkim.

I warmly congratulate the Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department for successfully organising this landmark event, along with my sincere thanks to all the party workers, all Departments involved, Yuwa Prakosta, Nari Prakosta, organisers and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this celebration truly grand.

Special mention to the Aama Suvidha Ghar concept — another step towards dignity, respect, and support for our mothers. Your dedication and unity have set an inspiring example for all.
