Joyous Entry of Francis, Duke of Anjou (1556-1584) into Antwerp, with the triumphal arch on St. John's Bridge, February 19, 1582.

 Dated from 1582-1600 by MHVH (signature).

Oil painting of a colorful procession of horsemen and infantry passing before the viewer to a triumphal arch.

The duke rides a white horse, wears a scarlet cloak, and is sheltered by a raised canopy.

On either side of the procession stand soldiers bearing civilian banners for the public.

A captain kneels before the duke.

To the right, next to a block of houses, the port of Antwerp is visible.

Dwaalspoor Dordrecht, Dordtse Decemberdagen.
For a few weeks a year, several key places in Dordrecht are lit up with moving images, along a route runs through the old town. This year there was special attention for Dordrecht natives Johan and Cornelis de Witt, on account of Johan's 400th birthday this year.
