“Arugula have spent the last two years playing shows in and around Brisbane. While also venturing interstate to NSW and VIC in support of their debut album, their first 2 EPs and a bunch of single releases. The band have had the pleasure of supporting many notable acts including The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds, Mildlife, Zia McCabe, Nice Biscuit and (W.I.T.C.H this November) many more.
The band’s new release is a four track expedition featuring two new original songs “No Hand”, a Van Morrison-esque 60’s pop ode to leaving a lover in the past and moving on up to bigger and better experiences and “A Unicorn” a track that sees the band venture into faster garage/psych territory taking inspiration from the raucous sounds of Thee Oh Sees and 60s pop icons The Troggs, The Rolling Stones and The Kingsmen. Additionally, the B-side of the EP features two cover songs that the band played while touring their “Roquette Music” album tour. “Night Time” originally performed by The Strangeloves is a band favourite to jam out live with its infectious beat and longing lyrics, while the band close out the release with a fuzzy cover of Count Five’s “Psychotic Reaction” which features the band’s lead guitarist Lachlan B take lead vocals for the first time.
Arugula are touring the EP this September and October with four dates in QLD and NSW, before supporting Zambian zam-rock Icons W.I.T.C.H this November in Brisbane and Bangalow.”
