🎉Introducing Dr. Lorenzo Brognara as our Invited Speaker for the 1st International Online Conference on Diseases (IOCD 2025), from 9 to 11 September 2025. The speaker will present in Session 4 - Geriatrics on the topic: Gait Analysis in Older Adults Using Wearable Sensors: Spatio Temporal Parameters as Biomarkers of Frailty.

💯Dr. Lorenzo Brognara is adjunct Professor of the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, Italy. Since 2021, he has been a member of the National Observatory for Health Professions (Ministry of University and Research), representing FNO-TSRM-PSTRP for the Podiatry profession. From 2022, he is a member of the Permanent Conference of the Degree Courses and Master of Health Professions as the National Coordinator of the Podiatry Commission. Since March 2014, he has been collaborating with the degree course in Podiatry at the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences of the Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna, and since 2020, he has been Head of Professionalizing Educational Activities. He earned his Master’s Degree in Rehabilitative Sciences of Health Professions (University of Pisa) and PhD in Biomedical and Neuromomotor Sciences (University of Bologna). He is a Professor of the master's degree in biomechanics applied to podiatric orthotic therapy (University of Florence). His research includes 3D printing additives for medical devices, the validation of wearable sensors for monitoring clinical outcomes, and the analysis of spatiotemporal parameters in patients with movement disorders.

💯Prof. Dr. Evgenia Vlachou is currently a Professor in the Department of Nursing at the University of West Attica, Athens, Greece. She completed her Ph.D. studies in Gynecological Endocrinology from the Nursing Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She is a member of the Hellenic Nurses Association, the National Nurses Association of Greece, the European Society of Endocrinology, and the Foundation of European Nurses in Diabetes. Her research interests are Endocrinology, Diabetes Nursing, Maternity, Gynecological Nursing, and Nursing Education.

💯Dr. Nisar Amin is an Internal Medicine physician at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. With a strong interest in gastroenterology, Dr. Amin actively engages in clinical research, contributing to studies focused on improving diagnostic and treatment approaches in GI care. He is deeply committed to medical education, mentoring residents and students through both academic and bedside teaching. Outside of medicine, Dr. Amin enjoys outdoor activities and values maintaining a balanced lifestyle. He is an avid cyclist and hiker, often exploring the scenic trails of West Virginia. The speaker will present in Session 3 - Immune and Inflammatory Diseases on the topic: Terminal Ileitis Without IBD: A Clinician’s Diagnostic Challenge.

💯Dr. Sibel Islak Mutcali is an Infectious Diseases physician and Assistant Professor at CAMC – Vandalia Health in Charleston, West Virginia. She completed her fellowship at the University of Arizona with focused training in Transplant Infectious Diseases, along with additional training at Emory University, ICON, and the CDC—where she also contributed to infectious disease research. Her interests include antimicrobial resistance, tuberculosis, diagnostic stewardship, and inflammation biomarkers. She conducted research on febrile neutropenic cancer patients evaluating CRP, procalcitonin, mannose-binding lectin (MBL), and H-ficolin levels. She has also published on bloodstream infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and contributed to studies on TB, diagnostics and outcomes. Dr. Mutcali served as a research associate in the multinational Phase 3 Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine trial, with oversight responsibilities for patient safety and data credibility across 16 U.S. sites. She remains deeply engaged in medical education and is passionate about mentoring, evidence-based diagnostics, and exploring novel approaches such as phage therapy.

💯Dr. Abdurrahman Kadayifci is a M.D. trained in Turkey, where he completed his medical education, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in gastroenterology. He served for many years both as a faculty member at Gaziantep University Hospital and as a staff gastroenterologist. He gained extensive experience in academic and clinical gastroenterology as well as interventional endoscopy. Dr. Kadayifci has authored numerous research and review articles published in internationally recognized journals and textbooks. He further enriched his academic background through research fellowships at the University of California San Francisco Liver Center and Harvard University’s Massachusetts General Hospital. Driven by a strong passion and enthusiasm, Dr. Kadayifci is now pursuing a new career pathway focusing on transplant hepatology in UT Health San Antonio, Department of Transplant Hepatology.

💯 Prof. Dr. Hakan Akin completed his medical school education at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, in 1996. Afterward, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2004 and his Gastroenterology fellowship at the same university in 2008. He became a diplomate of the European Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Board in 2016. Dr. Akin has worked as a consultant in gastroenterology and hepatology for many years and has been involved in numerous projects, playing pioneering roles in this field. He finished a Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2024. He is currently a full-time Professor of Medicine at the Internal Medicine Department, Division of Gastroenterology at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. According to Google Scholar records, Dr. Akin's publications have garnered over 1,400 citations, with an H-index of 19 and an I10-index of 29. His international papers, most notably, concentrated on basic and clinical research studies related to the fields of hepatology and inflammatory bowel diseases.

💯 Dr. Jason Ali is a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, United Kingdom. He obtained his medical qualification with distinction from the University of Cambridge in 2008 and went on to complete a PhD focusing on the immune response to transplanted organs, earning several prestigious research prizes along the way, including the Surgical Research Society: Patey Prize.

He is a Fellow and Director of Studies for Clinical Medicine for Churchill College, University of Cambridge. In 2023 he was appointed as the Clinical Subdean for Royal Papworth Hospital, leading the medical student education program.

He actively contributes to the advancement of medical knowledge through his extensive research endeavours. With over 120 peer-reviewed publications to his name, he has made significant contributions to the field. He is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Thoracic Disease. One of his notable projects is as Co-Lead on the EuroSCORE III project. This initiative is focused on developing the cardiac surgical risk calculator which already holds international significance.
