Prolific S*x Offender Jailed for Exposing Himself to Hospital Staff

A convicted s*x offender has been jailed after exposing himself to nurses at a hospital and asking them to apply gel to his private parts.

Cathal Feeney, 39, whose address was given as residing in the Belfast area, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to one count of exposure.

The court heard that on October 28th, Feeney was taken to the Emergency Department at the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, accompanied by prison guards from Magilligan Prison.

While receiving treatment, the defendant intentionally exposed his ge****ls with the intention of causing alarm or distress. A prosecutor told the court that Feeney "appeared to be playing with himself" and was warned on three separate occasions to stop his behaviour.

He repeatedly complained to nursing staff that he had a sore p***s and requested them to apply gel to the area, advice he was given that he must do himself. He also asked staff to administer an a**l suppository. Despite repeated warnings, he continued to expose himself.

District Judge Peter King imposed a three-month prison sentence and ordered that Feeney be placed on the S*x Offenders’ Register for a period of seven years.

The defendant was released on bail pending an appeal against the sentence.

Man Sentenced to 30 Months in Prison for S*xual Assault and Abuse of Animals in France

A 19-year-old man, identified only as Massoud S., has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment following his conviction for s*xual assault and severe animal cruelty. The offences took place between February and April 2026 at Le Refuge d'un Moment, an animal sanctuary and educational farm in Pennes-Mirabeau, near Marseille.

The defendant, an asylum seeker born in Afghanistan who arrived in France in November 2025, was found guilty of abusing five goats and a six-month-old lamb. One goat subsequently died as a result of the injuries sustained.

Evidence and Arrest
Suspicions were first raised in February when staff observed physical injuries on the animals, including rope marks, trauma, and blood traces. CCTV cameras were installed, capturing footage of the perpetrator. In April, law enforcement officers intervened and arrested the man while the abuse was in progress. Despite the presence of DNA evidence and being caught in the act, Massoud S. maintained his innocence throughout the trial held at the Aix-en-Provence courthouse.

Court Proceedings
During the hearing, the defendant claimed to be a "normal person" and offered various explanations for his presence at the sanctuary, including missing a train and having nowhere else to stay. He also cited the loss of his family in Afghanistan and subsequent mental health issues as mitigating factors.

A psychiatric evaluation noted that he appeared to minimise the severity of his actions, reportedly stating, "They're making a huge fuss about it when they're just animals."

The jury deliberated for just one hour before reaching a guilty verdict.

Sentence
In addition to the prison term, the court issued an order banning Massoud S. from French territory and requiring his registration on the national database of s*xual and violent offenders.

Statement from the Sanctuary
Cassandra Sortino, owner of the sanctuary, expressed the profound impact of the events. She stated that while the legal process has concluded, the organisation continues to seek understanding of the motives behind the behaviour, adding, "We can't explain it morally. We feel like we've failed."

Jeffrey Donaldson’s membership of the Orange Order has been revoked following his conviction on 18 counts of historical s*xual offences committed against two victims who were minors at the time.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland confirmed:
"While it is not our practice to comment on individual cases, our rules stipulate that membership is terminated with immediate effect for any person convicted of a serious criminal offence."

A police incident at Portstewart Strand has sparked discussion online after officers responded to reports of men allegedly carrying a knife on the popular Co Derry beach.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, 21 June, while the beach was busy with families and visitors enjoying the warm weather.

According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), officers were dispatched following reports that a number of men were in the area and that one was believed to be carrying a knife.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the individuals involved and carried out a search of their vehicle. Officers subsequently established that the group had been preparing food for a family barbecue and that the knife was being used for that purpose.

In a statement, the PSNI said no criminal offences had been identified. However, officers removed the knife from the beach for disposal and confirmed that no further action would be taken.

While the incident was quickly resolved, it has generated significant discussion on social media, where some members of the public questioned whether enough action had been taken and expressed concerns about reports that a blade had been visible on a crowded public beach.

Others argued that police had acted appropriately, noting that officers responded immediately, investigated the report, searched the vehicle involved and determined that no criminal offences had occurred.

The incident has also prompted wider debate around public perceptions of safety, policing and consistency in the handling of reports involving knives in public places.

Some social media users claimed the individuals involved were members of an ethnic minority community and suggested the response may have been different had those involved been white. However, no evidence has been produced to support claims of preferential treatment, and police have not indicated that ethnicity played any role in the incident.

The PSNI’s account of events remains that officers responded to a public safety concern, carried out inquiries at the scene and found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by police in balancing public concerns with the facts established during an investigation, particularly in an era where unverified accounts can spread rapidly online.

Anyone with concerns about suspicious behaviour is encouraged to contact police, allowing officers to assess reports and take appropriate action based on the evidence available.
