Take a peek around Just a Bar 👀

Albany’s Warehouse District just got a new spot 🍻 The historic two-story brick building, once home to Albany Elevator Co., has been completely transformed with a dozen draft lines, nearly two dozen TVs, and a balcony with a sweet view of Nipper and the warehouse district 🐶

Behind the concept are Lance Rider, owner of Rocks, and his partner Peter Hitchcock, who wanted a laid-back place that blends sports-bar energy with neighborhood charm. Managing it all is local bar veteran Shane Horan, formerly of McGeary’s and Lionheart on the Green 💯

La Serre’s revival is on the horizon 👀

Albany War Room Tavern owner Todd Shapiro and attorneys and partners purchased the former La Serre building at 14 Green Street for just under $500,000 and will invest $200,000 in renovations. They plan a private membership club and restaurant aimed at patrons under 40, reserving 20 percent of the tables for the public, with no initiation fee and annual dues under $1,000. The Mediterranean-inspired venue will feature Albany’s only rooftop dining terrace and relocate sushi chef Yasuo Saso, alongside a calendar of chef pop-ups and charity fundraisers. The club debuts on election night in November with a selective membership process targeting public leaders, media influencers, creatives and entrepreneurs 🍽️
