Hi ladies ✋

31/12/2024

2024 was nothing short of a rollercoaster for me. A year filled with challenges, growth, and invaluable lessons.

January: Freshly graduated, unemployed, and trying to pivot my career toward my passion. It was a tough beginning, full of uncertainty.

February: Reality hit hard. I faced the struggles of being an unemployed, middle-class man. But amidst the chaos, I created a case study that became my game changer.

March: Landed a job that aligned with my passion and made the big move to Dhaka.

April: For the first time during Eid, I was able to buy something for myself and my family entirely with my own money. It was a proud and fulfilling moment.

May: The most productive month for my career till then. I successfully completed multiple projects. However, I got sick toward the end of the month. A quick doctor visit helped me recover within a few days.

June: The sickness lingered. I returned to Rangpur for Eid-ul-Azha but was too unwell to enjoy quality time with my family and friends. After Eid, I went back to Dhaka, still sick. On June 22, while home alone, my condition worsened. In despair, I called my mom, saying I couldn’t take it anymore and planned to quit my job. Another doctor visit brought suspicions of typhoid (though tests ruled it out). I was diagnosed with a bacterial infection resistant to antibiotics. Bed rest followed, but there was no improvement. My condition worsened to the point of hallucinations. On June 30, my mom came to Dhaka to be by my side.

July: I was hospitalized on July 1. Things were critical, and I overheard doctors discussing how patients like me often face fatal outcomes after the third week. It was my 18th day of illness. That same day, my condition deteriorated further. I can still recall my mom crying and praying beside my bed. Thankfully, by July 8, my health improved, and I was discharged. I flew back to Rangpur to rest but remained extremely weak. I even needed assistance to use the washroom. July movemet starts and It hurts me a lot.

August: Slowly, my condition improved. I regained the strength to walk, though I was still fragile. Determined to participate in the July movement, On 4th August I lied to my family, saying I was meeting friends for 15 minutes. While heading to the movement, I got caught between two opposing groups but managed to escape and join in. By the end of August, I was almost back to normal.

September: Returned to Dhaka, resumed work, completed several projects, and reconnected with loved ones.

October: Fell sick again with the same symptoms. This time, I knew what to do and took 20 days of rest. It was manageable but frustrating. Thinking of quiting.

November: Got back to work and immersed myself in tasks to stay busy and distract myself from heartbreak. Maintained a rutine dite and healthy food consumption from then.

December: The best month of my year. I completed many personal projects and was highly productive. I learned a lot of new things and visited Cox’s Bazar for refreshment. But after that, bad news came one after another. I got heartbroken, lost my aunt, cried, and the pain is still ongoing.

Key Takeaways:

Seek help when you need it.

Focus on your work without obsessing over the outcome.

A hungry stomach can be a powerful motivator.

Expect nothing from anyone.

Trust people, with open eyes.

Thank you, 2024, for teaching me so much. I won’t repeat the same mistakes again.
