Meet your president, Shelly Currey! With 27 years of dedicated service at Salem Center in long-term healthcare, Shelly’s journey began as a CNA and blossomed into a 20-year role as Activity Director. Today, she proudly serves as the Senior Director of Recreation for Genesis HealthCare in West Virginia.

When she’s not inspiring creativity with her residents, Shelly and her husband Rob embrace farm life, caring for cattle, geese, ducks, and 15 breeds of chickens. Her passions extend to camping, painting, crafts, cooking and canning.

Shelly’s vision for the WVAPA is: growth, enthusiasm, and a deep love for this field and the residents of West Virginia. She believes, “Every resident has a story to tell—their life experiences provide more educational opportunities than any book ever could.” I am honored to work alongside so many amazing residents during my career and look forward to sharing my knowledge with other directors. “It feels unreal -being able to work beside these amazing board members and I look forward to the exciting year ahead!”
