PRESIDENT SALVA KIIR MAYARDIT DISMISSES FIVE VICE PRESIDENTS

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has reportedly relieved the five Vice Presidents of the Transitional Government of National Unity from their positions, in an announcement read on South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

Those affected are:

1. Dr. Riek Machar Teny — First Vice President

2. Dr. James Wani Igga — Vice President for Economic Cluster

3. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol — Vice President for Service Cluster

4. Taban Deng G*i — Vice President for Infrastructure Cluster

5. Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior — Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster

The announcement comes as South Sudan enters a critical phase ahead of the scheduled 22 December 2026 general elections. Recent legislation provides for the Vice Presidents to leave office three months before the elections.

PRESIDENT KIIR ANNOUNCES DISSOLUTION OF TRANSITIONAL GOVERNMENT.

JUBA, September 22, 2026 — President Salva Kiir Mayardit has announced the dissolution of South Sudan’s Transitional Government as the country moves toward the general elections scheduled for December 22, 2026.

The announcement was made during an expanded Presidency meeting attended by the Vice Presidents, political party leaders, presidential advisers, ministers and other senior government officials.

The development comes after President Kiir signed amendments to the National Elections Act on September 21, establishing a legal framework for the December elections.

The formal resolution on the dissolution is expected to be issued in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.

BREAKING NEWS.

Former legendary wrestler and Current Coach of Bor County Wrestling Association, Gongic Achiek Nai aka Loth-Majok, has been sworn in as the Chief of Adol Community this afternoon at Panpandiar village, Gak Payam.

Gongic, who hails from Adol clan in Gak famously known as "The Graduate" and "Prof." in Bor wrestling circles for his mastery and technical style, has been a central figure in Bor wrestling for over two decades since his initiation in 2001.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at Panpandiar, the historical heartland of the Adol Community in Bor County, Jonglei State.

He transitions from the wrestling arena to traditional leadership, taking up the role of community chief.
