Do you believe there's a special time dimesnsion for working with wool?!

I've heard people talk about knitting time, counted in stitches or rows as opposed to seconds and minutes.

I don't knit (yet!), but I definitely believe in spinning time, when time is defined by just one more spin of the spindle. Or, just one more rolag, and yet it never seems to be enough and before you know it 2 stndard hours have gone by!

Do you enter another time dimension when you get into the wool zone? Let us know in the comments what it looks like to you!

Happy New Year everyone!

We hope that you are all set to make 2023 a big woolly adventure with us. Whether it's learning more about the wool your flock produces, how to use wool or sharing projects and education along the way. We look forward to answering questions and hopefully keeping you informed about all things wool as we go through the year.

We'd also love to keep sharing about what you all do in your own sectors of the wool industry. It's been great to get to know people in the community better, and hopefully create connections amongst our followers.

Although we are The Wool Women of Wales, we are delighted to have followers sharing our passion for wool from around the UK and even further afield. Kirsty is one of these, based in Falkland, Scotland, she is passionate about wool and its magical ability to felt. We hope you enjoy finding out about what she gets up to at Falkland Felts .

Well, with Christmas madness, our November woolly shout outs have continued into December!!

Next up is self confessed yarn ju**ie Katherine Keatley. Having started the Britknit challenge during lockdown of knitting with 12 different breeds, she is now up to about 25 and has expanded the challenge into felt. A textile artist in her own right with a huge knowledge of dyeing, drop spinning, weaving and felt making her pieces can be found in exhibitions and she also provides workshops for both adults and schools with a focus on the Iron Age period.

We hope you enjoy finding out about Katherine and if you'd like a workshop with her in 2023 do get in touch with her.

How many people are knitting hats for this campaign?

During July and August, we launched our joint campaign with The Farming Community Network -

https://bit.ly/3cqtVAr

Wool and Wellness campaign supports farmersโ€™ physical and mental health during the winter months.

The campaign encourages members of the public and the farming community to take up the challenge of knitting a hat using British wool.

You can find a knitting pattern on our website and you can request some 'Care Labels' via DM or our comments
