Hey! If you don’t know me already, I’m Ciara McCarthy. I’m a disability activist and content creator who loves talking about all things disability. I’m one of three young adults with cerebral palsy involved in this project.
The other two are Melissa, a disability blogger, and Stella, an actress and model. They both also have CP and are just as passionate about building something for our community.

You might be wondering why we created a survey for adults with cerebral palsy in Scotland.

The short answer is to build a proper community.
The longer answer is that we’ve noticed most CP events either feel like the disability Olympics or focus only on cerebral palsy itself. While that works for some people, we want something different. We want events that aren’t about cerebral palsy, but for people with CP. Spaces where we can just exist, connect and hang out with people who get it.

Melissa wrote about this really well in her latest blog, so check that out too if you’re curious about how it all started.

Now that you know what we’re doing, we’d love your help.

Are you
✨ Scottish
✨ 18 or over
✨ Living with cerebral palsy
✨ Wanting to be part of more community events that are by us for us?

Then fill out the survey. It’s on my story or you can scan the QR code.

Let’s make more events by us for us

We’ve noticed there aren’t many events out there for Scottish adults with cerebral palsy so we’re doing something about it. 💚

If you’re 18+ and have CP, we want to hear from you! What kind of events would you actually enjoy?

📲 The survey link is in my story and in my bio.

Please share with friends, family, and anyone in Scotland who might want to have their say.

I made history this year as CitySA’s first physically disabled Student President.

It hasn’t been without its challenges from navigating Access to Work to communication barriers but I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of my team.

These past two years have been a journey of growth, learning, and finding clarity in the work I want to keep doing.

To disabled students: you are not alone. You deserve to be in every room where decisions are made, and I’ll continue to fight for those spaces to be open and accessible beyond this year.

Thank you 💚
