Nusa Penida, Bali, is an island on the east coast of Bali mainland and is home to some spectacular coastlines, one of which is the untouched, hidden Diamond Beach, located on the south-eastern tip of the island. 🏝️

Like many other coastlines of Nusa Penida, immense cliffs overlook Diamond Beach and its turquoise, crystal waters. The distinct diamond-shaped rock, positioned in the shallows, is what gave this beach its name and is what sets this beach apart from multiple others 🪨💎

Koalas are specialist folivores consuming nearly exclusively Eucalyptus species.🐨🌿

This diet is fatal or toxic to the majority of other mammals, therefore, there is a lack of competition over food resources. 🌱🌳

Eucalyptus is still very low in caloric content, so koalas still lack energy and can sleep and rest up to 22 hours a day. 💤

Hong Island, otherwise known as Koh Hong, is a group of four small islands, located in Than Bok Khorani National Park, in the gorgeous Phang Nga Bay in between Phuket and Krabi.

One of the impressive aspects of the island is Hong Lagoon. This natural lagoon is only accessible through a 10m narrow rock opening by longtail boat, speedboat, or kayak.

Once inside, the limestone cliffs surround and tower above the large lagoon, like a “chamber” which the Thai word “Hong” refers to.

The main hunting behaviour used by many , including the Asian water monitor (Varanus salvator), is a technique of open pursuit hunting. They have strong leg muscles meaning they can move at very fast speeds in pursuit of their prey. This differs from stalking and ambushing hunting 🌿🦎

When in pursuit in aquatic , the water monitor can stay submerged for up to 30 minutes. They use their tails dorsal ridge to steer themselves through water, making them great swimmers 💧
