This afternoon I’m out here soaking it in… not just for the warmth on my skin, but for what it’s doing inside my body.

Hard truth time, friends. And I’m talking to me as much as I am you.

If you’re unhappy that high-quality, ethically raised food isn’t cheap or readily available in every grocery store, it’s time to take a hard look in the mirror. We created this system. Our addiction to cheap, convenient, mass-produced junk—and our unwillingness to do the work or pay a little more when we can—fed the corporate food machine and heartlessly crushed the small farms trying to do it right.

Saying something like “This is too much work” or “this farm is too expensive” misses the entire point. No, I can’t take time to make everything from scratch daily or afford to buy all my food from places like that either. But when I can from time to time, I do. And I’m ABSOLUTELY not going to publicly tear down ANY of the small companies fighting to give us something better—especially if it’s just because I think I’m entitled to premium food at rock-bottom prices with zero effort on my part.

That behavior is not criticism. That’s arrogant entitlement. We can (we MUST) do better.

Support the good guys when you can afford to buy. Speak respectfully and supportively of them even when you can’t afford to buy. The world doesn’t change by complaining—it changes by voting with your effort, your dollars, your voice, and your values. You and I are directly responsible for making this whole thing better, and if we choose to be disparaging to those already trying, we’ll get exactly what we deserve in the end. And we will still be to blame for our own problems.

Go see my new cultured butter video (link in comments) and use whatever cream you can afford. Do the little bit of work. And if you can, consider buying the good stuff locally, or online, and support the good guys.

I took some raw cream from Millers Bio Farm, added a little culture, churned it up, and ended up with the richest, most insane butter I’ve ever had in my life.
