Waiting is hard, especially in our modern, fast-paced culture. I may have to wait at certain times, such as at a doctor's office, grocery store, or school car line, etc. So rather than get irritated about it like I sometimes do, I should pray through the wait. What better time to sit and talk to God?

When I wait with patience, the overall experience is always much better.

Sound familiar?

“The Lord is good to those who wait for him to the soul who seeks him.” – Lamentations 3:2

But what about when we’re waiting for God? Maybe you’ve been praying about something and you’re still waiting for God to answer that prayer. I understand. I am currently in a season of waiting. And it’s hard. However, faith and God's Word remind me that God’s timing is not our timing, just as His answers are not our thinking. It may take six months or years for God to answer a prayer.

Just as we must be patient when waiting in line at the bank, we must also be patient with God and continue doing His work. Ultimately, as He promised, we will inherit the blessings.

“Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land” Psalm 37:34

We cannot control when bad things happen that affect our lives and disturb our routines, but we can control our reactions.

We can be in constant prayer to respond to others and hard times with the same grace God extends to us. Further, constant prayer and communion with God means that the mayhem is already handled (or it will be soon) basically before it starts. That’s the power of God. That’s the power of a relationship with Him. That’s the power of meeting Him in the throne room of grace.

God has always been in control and God will always be in control on the good days and right in the middle of the bad.

Reposting this in case someone else needs this reminder today:

Dear YOU,

Love YOU. Be YOU. YOU are 'fearfully and wonderfully made'.

God told us to make our bodies pure temples for the Holy Spirit to dwell in. This means we are to have a healthy lifestyle and abstain from sins of the flesh that harm our bodies. But He did not tell us to obsess with our appearance to the point that what we look like to others becomes our top priority and we begin comparing ourselves with models, celebrities, and even our friends. Yes, we are to give our best to God. But my best and your best is the not the same. So, why do we compare ourselves to each other, or anyone else?

God wants our best; the best within the means He has blessed us with. The finest name brand apparel is not required to worship and serve Him. Think about Jesus’ ministry here on earth. He lived from place to place; he and his earthly father Joseph were carpenters by trade. They were not of the elites or the town royalty. Their clothes were simple, working clothes.

And what about the disciples? Jesus called them right from their occupations to leave all their possessions and follow Him. We don’t know all their occupations, but many had been fishermen at some point in their life.

God made us different. Each beautifully unique. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. The things we do not like about ourselves are beauty marks to our heavenly Father, even birth defects. God does not make mistakes. He uses our physical weaknesses to nurture our emotional strengths.

The struggle with insecurity and comparison is a real problem for all ages, especially women. This is not just a teenage phase. The struggle is always triggered by something different for each one of us, but the source is always the same: Satan. He knows our weak spots, and plays on them by planting ideas of unworthiness, shame, ugliness, indignity, and embarrassment in our heads. How can we silence Satan’s whispers?

Speak and pray Psalm 139:14 several times a day: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfullyand wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

Pray for strength through the Holy Spirit to silence Satan. Pray to recognize his ways before his attack and counterattack with prayer and praise to Jesus.

Filter what our eyes see, and our ears hear throughout our days. If you feel more insecure after being on social media, or watching TV, or being around a certain group of people, scale back or stop your time in that situation.

Consider your circle. The other friends in our lives should be friends who build each other up, not tear each other down or instigate ideals of ‘measuring up’ to certain looks or social statuses.

Stay in God’s word. Think on things that are good (Phil 4:8).

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” – Psalm 139:14

I don’t know about you, but my life is far from perfect and problem free.

But oh, the many hours I have wasted worrying about how to make everything perfect in my life! From how the house looks, perfect meals, perfect outfits, perfect accessories, perfect everything. I wanted everything to look perfect and feel perfect to everyone in, and looking in to, my life. No matter how hard I tried, I could not achieve perfection which often led to feelings of frustration and failure.

The reality is that the world we live in is broken, perfection only exists through Jesus Christ. I had to learn to focus on loving Him and others, while exchanging my greedy desires for an attitude of gratitude: a content heart of thankfulness to God for what I have, because all that I have is from Him and it is enough.

Through my relationship with Jesus, I experience a perfect love and joy here on earth.... and I will have a perfect home when I get to heaven.

Yes, it's easy to get distracted by the trials of life and wonder off gazing at the side shows. But God is always right there waiting for me to turn my face back to Him.

And He is always waiting for you!
Life is better with Jesus!

What about you? How do you fight against the ideas of perfectionism or the trifles of life?

Good morning, friends!

Sunday is here! The special morning of the week that we can come together as the church body to pray, worship and praise Jesus!

Every Sunday morning before going, I ask Holy Spirit to reveal to me the blessing I know is waiting for me at the Lord's house. Today, my husband and I will be worshipping with our church via live stream but my prayer is the same.

I know there are blessings there for me during times of worship, sometimes even before I arrive! I truly believe God has a unique and special blessing for each one us when we come before Him. We just have to open our hearts to receive it.

I pray you are able to worship Jesus in your church of choice today and that you are basking in the blessings specifically designed for you and your life.
