Morobo Commissioner Attends South Sudan Uganda Border Security Meeting in Arua

The Commissioner of Morobo County, Central Equatoria State, Joseph Mawa Okuba, is among senior government officials attending a high-level South Sudan Uganda cross-border meeting in Arua, Uganda, aimed at addressing rising border tensions between the two neighboring countries.

The meeting brings together leaders from both nations to strengthen cross-border cooperation, enhance security, and promote peaceful coexistence along the shared border.

Although Morobo County shares borders with both Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, it remains one of the most peaceful border areas in South Sudan. However, local authorities say insecurity continues to be caused by a few remaining holdout armed groups following the spread of the 2016 conflict into the county.

The cross-border dialogue is expected to foster stronger collaboration in maintaining peace, improving security, and enhancing relations between border communities.

Sports Unites Morobo: A New Pathway to Peace and Youth Engagement

Sports remain the biggest uniting factor in Morobo, Central Equatoria State. Today’s match between Green Valley and Peace Club attracted a huge crowd, while religious gatherings often see much lower attendance.

This raises an important question: How can churches and leaders inspire more people, especially youth, to attend church services, crusades, and gospel concerts?

The large turnout shows that sports can be a powerful tool for promoting peace, unity, and youth engagement. If leaders embrace sports as part of the peace-building process, it could contribute to lasting peace in South Sudan.

ARSENAL TROPHY CELEBRATION BRINGS COMMUNITY UNITY IN BAZI

Residents of Bazi came together yesterday for a lively celebration organized by local Arsenal supporters, marking what fans described as a long-awaited Arsenal trophy celebration. The event was held at Rodoba Primary School and drew participation from community members, government representatives, local chiefs, and women representatives.

The gathering focused not only on football enthusiasm for Arsenal, but also on strengthening community unity and cooperation. Speaking during the event, the Chairperson of Arsenal fans in Bazi encouraged residents to form community groups aimed at addressing local challenges collectively and making problem-solving easier and more effective.

Community leaders also used the occasion to call for youth empowerment. A chief from Congo urged young people to engage in constructive activities such as sports, highlighting their role in bringing communities together and promoting positive development in Kili Kili.

In a similar message, Chief Moses Budili of Kili Kili Boma encouraged youths to establish savings groups to improve their future financial stability. He also appealed to business partners to support sports initiatives that can help nurture young talent and strengthen community ties.

The event concluded with a pledge from Arsenal supporters in Bazi to continue working hand in hand with the wider community to promote unity, development, and youth engagement.

Wutita Ministries Begins Construction of New Church Building in Morobo

Morobo, Central Equatoria State Wutita Ministries has announced the commencement of foundation work for a new church building in partnership with its church plant in Morobo County.

According to the ministry, engineers and construction workers began surveying the site and digging the foundation approximately one month ago after funds were raised to launch the project.

The ministry expressed gratitude to supporters who have contributed toward the construction efforts and said it is now seeking additional resources to complete the next phase of the project, including the construction of the church walls.

Wutita Ministries appealed to well-wishers and members of the community for support through donations of construction materials such as sand, cement, and aggregate, as well as financial contributions.

The planned church building is expected to provide a dedicated place of worship and fellowship for Christians in Morobo, where believers can gather for prayer, worship, and gospel teaching.

Quoting Psalm 127:1, the ministry emphasized its reliance on faith throughout the construction process: “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”

Construction is ongoing as the ministry continues to mobilize support for the completion of the project.
