🙏 Grateful Hearts in Morobo!

A group of Morobo Youth Based in Juba successfully distributed essential items sent by our brothers and sisters from Juba to 541 households (1,082 individuals) in Morobo Centre.

The support reached elderly people, pregnant women, lactating mothers, children, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) from the following areas:

Kendila, Atuku, Yondu, Bussia, Ajegeli, Nyori, Waimba, Kanja, Luku, Panyume, Koroji & Gulumbi villages.

Surprise Amos Sagos: Rising Football Star from Morobo

Juba, South Sudan
Young talent Surprise Amos Sagos, from Kaya Boma in Morobo County, is quickly making a name for himself in South Sudanese football. Playing for Al Huriya FC Juba, Surprise has impressed fans with his speed, skill, and goal-scoring ability.

At just a young age, he has become a key player for his team, earning praise from coaches and supporters. His journey from village football fields in Kaya to the big stage in Juba inspires many youths back home.

“I want to show that Morobo has talent and South Sudanese youth can go far,” says Surprise.

With continued hard work, Surprise dreams of joining the national team and taking his talent to international levels. He is a true symbol of hope for young people across the country.

Border authorities in Uganda say people are fleeing Morobo County, with reports of killing and abduction.

MAY 29th – Authorities in Uganda’s Koboko District say people from the neighbouring South Sudan’s Morobo County in Central Equatoria are fleeing, as Uganda has intensified its security at the border with South Sudan amid escalating tensions between the South Sudan government forces and opposition groups.

Uganda’s Daily Monitor reports that among those relocated to refugee settlements or back to their countries of origin are individuals without clear identification. Mr Emmy Mitala, the Koboko Residence District Commissioner (RDC), says there have been cases of Ugandans being abducted, robbed, and killed by armed individuals crossing from South Sudan.

So far, two Ugandans have been confirmed killed, with others unaccounted for, and nearly 20 abducted by South Sudanese armed groups who demand ransom.

Insecurity has since then intensified in Morobo County, displacing over 7000 people in dire need of humanitarian assistance. Central Equatoria State officials on Wednesday also confirmed reports of Kaya highway vehicle attacks, killing two people in Morobo County, close to Uganda’s Koboko District.

Central Equatoria Governor Launches Peace and Recovery Mission in Morobo

Morobo, 7 May 2025 (CESGPU) – His Excellency General Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, Governor of Central Equatoria State, arrived in Morobo County on Wednesday as part of ongoing efforts to promote sustainable peace and stability in the region.

The Governor was accompanied by key members of his administration, including the Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement, the Minister of Peace Building, the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, the Minister of Health, and the State Advisor for Legal Affairs.

The visit is intended to familiarize the Governor with the current humanitarian conditions facing displaced persons residing in Morobo town, assess their most pressing needs, and advance initiatives for their resettlement and long-term recovery.
