Hey everyone,

As our community continues to grow, one of the questions I get asked the most in the DMs is: "Where is a safe, reliable place to buy and sell Canadian coins online?"

As you know, we don't allow direct buying or selling inside this Facebook group to keep everyone protected from potential scams and unverified deals. But I wanted to give you a legitimate alternative that I’ve been using and partnering with.

If you haven’t checked out Whatnot yet, it’s a dedicated live auction marketplace. Here is why it works so well for numismatics compared to standard platforms:

🔹 Real-Time Authenticity: You see the exact coin, the luster, the reverse, and any specific varieties or errors live on camera before you bid. No hiding behind a single blurry photo.
🔹 Instant Interaction: You can ask the seller to zoom in on a date, show a specific mint mark, or flip the coin right there in the moment.
🔹 Buyer Protections: The platform has built-in verification and payment security, so you don't have to worry about the typical risks of peer-to-peer marketplace transactions.

Because of our official partnership, if you sign up using the North Central Coins invite link below, Whatnot will automatically give you a first-time buyer credit (usually around $10 to $15 depending on the current promotion) to use right toward your first purchase.

Sign up on Whatnot for a bonus credit here:

✨ Is it really Gold? The truth about "Gold" Pennies!! ✨

Check out this 1972 Canadian cent I pulled from a roll hunt! It’s stunningly bright and almost certainly gold-plated.

These are fairly common to find in circulation. They are usually post-mint alterations, meaning someone took a standard penny and plated it after it left the Royal Canadian Mint. They aren't rare errors, but they are a great conversation starter and look fantastic in a display case.
Do you keep these novelty pieces when you find them, or do you pass them back into circulation?
