A message from one of my first clients.

I still check on families after our work is complete ❤️

Impact will always be more important than recognition for me.

Sometimes it can be a challenge when doing the work I do, it feels like you are shouting into an echo chamber about why families need the services I provide. But messages and reviews like this truly keep me going.

This week, I had the pleasure of joining the Social Workers over at Catherine McAuley Center in Scranton for their monthly staff meeting.

My baby boy Isaac was a special guest (who they treated SO well and had plenty accomodations for!). Its not always easy to be a working mom of small children, and most places don’t have accommodations. I truly thank you all for your hospitality.

We had a powerful conversation about maternal wellness, the “cascade of interventions”, postpartum care, and the importance of supporting families beyond birth.

I left feeling so inspired by their dedication to serving women and children in our community and so encouraged that the work I do as a doula and maternal health advocate truly resonates. There were some teary eyes and some were left astonished by what led me to this work and why its so important to me to continue this mission.

Meetings like this remind me why I started Sincerely, The Village Doula. It was to help build back the “village” every family deserves. Excited to see where these conversations will lead and the impact we can create together for mothers in Northeastern PA!

Even a few days of breastfeeding provides lifelong benefits.

Colostrum (aka “liquid gold”) gives your baby an immune-boosting head start.

So even if you only breastfeed your baby once, the benefits last a lifetime!

Every drop counts.

It is important to know your rights as a working mom.

I see so many women struggle while navigating keeping up with their supply and working out of the home.

Employers should be doing what they are legally required to do to support breastfeeding employees. Reach out to your HR department for reasonable accommodations.

Know the laws that protect you and your breastfeeding journey. See the breakdown below ⬇️

🍼 U.S. BREASTFEEDING & PUMPING LAWS (As of 2025)

1. Break Time for Nursing Mothers Law

Part of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
🔹 Requires employers to provide:
• Reasonable break time to express breast milk for one year after the child’s birth
• A private space, other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view and free from intrusion

🔹 Applies to:
• Most hourly (non-exempt) employees
• Some salaried (exempt) employees are also covered under the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act (see below)

2. The PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act (2022 Update)

✅ Expands FLSA protections to millions more workers, including:
• Salaried workers
• Teachers
• Nurses
• Agricultural workers
• Transportation and airline workers

🔹 Requires employers to:
• Provide reasonable time and a private space for pumping
• Protect employees from retaliation for asserting their rights

⏰ Employers with fewer than 50 employees may request exemption only if they can prove it would cause undue hardship.

Hello everyone!

I was recently informed that people were unable to leave me reviews due to my settings. I have went in and changed that now, so you should be able to see and also write reviews.

If my work has impacted you in any way, feel free to leave me a review on here and also on google. This helps give me visibility, and your feedback matters to me as it helps me grow and keeps me going :)

THANK YOU,
Sincerely, The Village Doula

🌸🤱🏾 August is World Breastfeeding Month 🤱🏾🌸

As a mom of three, my breastfeeding journey was as unique as each of my children. I nursed my oldest until about a year and a half, cherishing those quiet, connected moments. With my twins, life took a different turn, and I had to stop sooner than I planned.

Breastfeeding is beautiful, but it’s also complex and filled with love, sacrifice, challenges, and grace. Whether your journey is long or short, exclusive or supplemented, planned or unexpected, it’s yours, and it matters.

To all the mothers nourishing their babies, whether it be at the breast, with a pump, or with a bottle: your dedication is seen, your love is felt, and your efforts are enough. 💛

Let’s celebrate every path, honor every story, and continue building a world where every mom feels supported in feeding her baby.

And as always, if you are in need of support getting the hang of breastfeeding or troubleshooting common issues with nursing, I am here to help ❤️🤱🏾🌱
