Today, I stepped into a new agreement that will allow me to serve my local senior community in an even more meaningful way.

(🤫 I can’t share the full details just yet…but just know…it’s BIG.)

What makes this moment even more powerful?

➡️ I already have an education business that allows me to pass the “marketing & sales torch” to other senior care professionals…especially you, care home owners.

➡️ I get to teach, coach, and equip through podcasts, group workshops, and private trainings…both in-person and virtual.

➡️ And I’m blessed to lead an AI Marketing Agency with software solutions that serves the most wonderful clients with mission-driven hearts.

🙌🏽 I am truly BLESSED. And I don’t take a single bit of it for granted.

Because let me be honest…
There have been some hard chapters along the way.

I’ve been:
❌ Bullied
❌ Betrayed
❌ And emotionally bruised by toxic people in corporate leadeship who were more committed to power than to people.🤯

But here’s the part I’m most proud of:

👉🏽 I never let it steal my mission.
👉🏽 I never let it dim my passion.
👉🏽 And I never walked away from the people I’m called to serve.

Every experience made me wiser, stronger, and more empathetic.

And now, I’m using it all…every single lesson…to help others rise.

Praying for those impacted in the Gabriel House tragedy😢🙏

If you are unaware:

A horrific fire broke out at the Gabriel House Assisted Living facility in Fall River, MA.

Tragically, nine residents lost their lives and over thirty others were injured, including five brave firefighters who answered the call according to the local CBS News.

We want to pause, collectively, and hold space for:
💔 The families who have lost loved ones and those still worried about theirs
🚨 The residents who faced unimaginable fear and trauma
🚒 The firefighters, police, EMS, who worked tirelessly to save lives

Why this matters to all of us in senior care:
This tragedy isn’t just news. It’s a wake‑up call for every provider, caregiver, and leader in this space:

👉Emergencies demand preparation. Are your alarms, drills, evacuation plans and most importantly...your people ready?
👉Staffing isn’t just a budget line. It’s a matter of safety, trust, and who shows up when it counts.
👉Ethical responsibility matters. Residents and their families deserve care, clarity, and compassion especially in crisis.

Now, we can:
✔️ GRIEVE with everyone who was impacted…without jumping to blame
✔️ Ask hard questions about safety and staffing in YOUR own community
✔️ COMMIT to continuous improvement, before tragedy forces it
✔️ Show up more and MORE intentionally for those you serve

To the families, the staff, and the Fall River community:

I am DEEPLY sorry for your loss. 😔

Your pain, fear, and search for answers are seen. And I stand with you in hoping no other senior living home experiences this level of heartbreak...ever again.

Running a business and leading one aren’t the same game. 😏

FULL CIRCLE LESSONS | POST 4

I used to lead multimillion-dollar business units for some of the biggest names in their respective industries.

I hit the metrics.
Built the teams.
Developed the training.
Improved the systems.
Led regions to success.

But when I stepped out on my own?
A whole different ball game.🤯

Inside corporate, I had:
✅ A team to execute
✅ A budget I didn’t have to fund
✅ Branding, marketing, compliance, systems… already in place

All I had to do was be strategic, tap into my creativity, and lead.

But when the business is yours?

You don’t just lead.
You build EVERYTHING from scratch…
The strategy, the systems, the team, and the trust.

All on YOUR dime and YOUR time. 😮‍💨
Many times, I doubted my decision and questioned myself…

💡 The Full Circle Lesson?

The difference wasn’t my ability.
It was my access.

Inside corporate, I had:
✅ Capital on demand
✅ Legal and HR teams
✅ Marketing support
✅ A built-in brand and referral engine

But solo success?
It required me to build the infrastructure first…before I could ever think about scaling. 😰

And that’s why most care home owners get stuck.

You might think the problem is you…
But really, it’s the lack of capital, systems, and support.

That’s exactly why I teach what I teach now:
So care home owners can grow strategically,

NOT chaotically.

Small business owners shouldn’t have to build it all from scratch without support.

Sometimes the opportunity of a lifetime shows up twice…
But only knocks once.🫣

FULL CIRCLE LESSONS | POST #3

After walking away from my first business,
I pivoted into hospitality and built a corporate location from the ground up.

Literally.

I took on a brand-new unit, from construction to ribbon-cutting…
Then scaled it to one of the top 3 in revenue in the entire district.

The district.
Not just the city.
From scratch.

Then corporate came calling.
They wanted to convert the operations to an independent contractor agreement and offered me the opportunity.

The dream, right?

But here’s the hard truth:
I let fear call the shots.

Still bruised from my last partnership, I asked someone I trusted for advice....A long-time employee who had been with the company for years.

She told me to stay on corporate.

What I didn’t know?

She was friends with the person applying to take over the business I built.

And once I said no…
That door shut.

For good.

The new owner got the opportunity.
I got to be her regional manager.

And, I supported her FULLY.
We become great friends…because that’s who I am.☺️

But I never forgot the sting.

💡 The Lesson...
Don’t let past pain cloud your present vision.

And, be very careful who you take advice from.
Look at their credentials… AND their motives.

Because sometimes, the very people you trust to guide you
are quietly guiding you out of your own blessing.😏

I opened my first business with so much hope:

A custom screen printing shop.
📍 Name was on the lease.
🆔 EIN was official.
🖨️ We had a 4-station manual press and a heat press machine.

It felt impossible… And, I felt unstoppable.
The sky was the limit!

But here’s what I didn’t see coming:

My partners?

They didn’t actually want to run the business
Even though they INSISTED on being 50/50, hands-on partners.

They weren’t interested in being silent investors like I proposed.
They wanted full credit… with none of the commitment😳

And then?
They ghosted me and the business for over 8 months.😤

When I offered to buy them out and keep it going solo?

They said NO.

They didn’t want to be involved…
but they didn’t want me to have it either.

Let that sink in.😐

Being pushed out of the very thing I was building?
That was a hard pill to swallow.🥺

I had the vision.
I was doing the work.

But without alignment and without full ownership,
I couldn’t move forward.

💡 Lesson learned:
I thought I needed partners to help me operate the business…
But what I actually needed was mentorship and a clear plan.

🔑Partnership without defined roles, expectations, and a written buyout clause is risky.😬

🔑Partial ownership does not mean full commitment. OR…full support.

🔑Sometimes, the right guidance is more powerful than shared ownership.

I’ve started over more times than I can count.😵‍💫
Left a steady paycheck.🫣
Took on partners who didn’t share my values.😤
Watched businesses I built from scratch fall apart.😭

But every time, I came back to the same truth:

✨ I was made to lead.
✨ I was made to build.
✨ I was made to help others do the same.

But this post isn’t really about me...it’s about you.

Because after working with caregiving families and listening to what seems like thousands of their life stories, I’ve learned this:

Life is filled with full circle moments.😉

And in time, every experience you’ve had (even the missteps) will make sense.

They’ll guide your next step.
They’ll become the blueprint for what’s next.

When I was a kid, I dreamed of owning a Christian bookstore and a DAYCARE CENTER 😳🫣.
I didn’t know it then…🤔
But that dream was never really about books or kids.

It was about impact.
It was about service.
It was about building something that made people feel seen, supported, and stronger when they left than when they came in.

Fast forward to today…

That’s exactly what I help senior care home owners do.
I was always meant to do this work 🥹

Helping people build businesses that change lives… without losing themselves in the process.

I smiled and replied:
“That’s like saying your kitchen table is your restaurant.”

Let that sink in. 👀

🛑 A brochure doesn’t build trust.
🛑 A brochure doesn’t answer a scared daughter’s questions at 11pm.
🛑 A brochure won’t help someone find you online when they’re desperate for help.

👉 And hint, hint… neither does AI. 😉

Marketing is more than paper.
More than an automated voice that schedules community visits.
(Yes, those are tools, but they’re not the solution.)

Marketing is:

✅ Presence
✅ Story
✅ Visibility
✅ Human

📉 And without it?
No one knows how amazing your senior care home really is.

How?

👉🏽A random act of kindness
👉🏽An out of the blue phone call to say, “I am thinking of you”
👉🏽A random text to say, “thank you for being you”

It is really not that hard.
But intention is the precursor to ex*****on

Another young Black boy. Shot in the back. Scared. Innocent.
And now gone.

It made me sad. 😢
It made me angry. 😡
It made me afraid. 😰

As a mom of two boys (my ♥️♥️)

I felt like…how am I going to protect them 🥺

Fast forward. I’m leaving my coworking space yesterday. I turn around.

And there it is.

“Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.”

A flyer taped to the door. 🥹

It stopped me in my tracks.

After 14 years in senior care…
Working in spaces that barely acknowledge Black History Month…
Let alone Juneteenth…🙄

In that moment, I felt seen. Really seen.♥️

Now, did they close the office like they would for other holidays?
No.

But was I disappointed? Nope 🙂‍↔️

Because acknowledgment is better than denial!

And sometimes, it just feels good to be seen.

What touched me most?🥹
They didn’t stop at the flyer‼️

They sent an email to all members with:
✅ A Juneteenth message of reflection
✅ A list of events happening locally
✅ Links to attend, learn, or celebrate

The message in the email:

“Thank you for understanding, and we hope you take this time to pause, reflect, and celebrate true freedom.”

They took time to educate, not just decorate.

And it made me think…🤔

In senior living, where our staff is as diverse as the nation we serve…😏

How many providers are actually pausing to acknowledge Juneteenth?

Not just as a moment.
But as part of our collective American story.

If we can recognize holidays that reflect patriotism, family, and sacrifice…

Then Juneteenth belongs too.

So today I say…

👏🏽 Thank you, Kuna Coworking.
You didn’t have to…but you did 🙌🏽

You reminded me that small things can make a big impact.

And you deepened my commitment to make sure every senior living professional feels seen, heard, and valued…

NOT just on Juneteenth, but every day.
